Why not?

The board run by Jim Thompson gave the Sox a sweet deal that is still being paid for every yr by tax payers since the Sox never meet attendance #'s and I believe taxes are also paying for the renovations.

Both sides are crooks, but let's give credit where credit is due here. Maybe we all need a discount lol.
If ticket sales for this highly anticipated game in Chicago at GRF are so good...why so many ways to buy discounted tickets??

Because you guys control the Chicago media market. At least that is what you told the Big Twelve. 04-cheers

Because:

an off-season + cold mid-week game + toledo opponent = ticket fire sale
If you use prom code GOP, you can conceal carry

Stubhub selling point is around $30 per ticket on the 100 level. So SF being a smart dude he is discounting the remaining tickets to as close to that as possible so that NIU athletics makes the money rather then the season ticket holders who have tickets in hand and are trying to unload them.

This game will still make athletic more money than if it were a home game.

I actually got word that all the premium offerings like the Miller lite patio and HAF tent are totally sold out.

Yes, this is a good thing for NIU athletics. I don't understand the logic in hoping it fails just because it is less convenient personally for a few. If NIU athletics has any hope of ever growing it is critical they figure out some way to entice more of the millions of people in the Chicago metro area to support the program.

This game by itself may not accomplish this, but it at least is an effort. I am not a huge STF supporter, but this is a good idea and good for NIU.

I hope we use this venue very 4-5 years, maybe on a better day of the week and with better opponents.
Good lord that Guaranteed Rate field sign looks so awful on the Dan Ryan, so awful

+1 Thank you.

How some don't see the big picture here is beyond me......

After having been at last weeks game.....This will be apples & oranges in comparison.
I imagine many here have just received this by email also but thought I would post as it's an excellent summary of info for the Game.

Clearly it'll be just like another game at HS.......NOT!

+1000000000000000.

+10000 too. Especially since this is where we are hosting the higher ups supposedly from the AAC, from what Stay Cool said. Allows us to buy time having them in Dekalb in the crap boxes we have until the reno happens.

Why wouldn't anyone want to try to impress causal fans and the national media boggles my mind. If anyone noticed last weeks midweek game looked like we had 500 people on the students side, looked pathetic and my guess Toledo or not, the numbers would be close to the same.

Frazier is trying to build something better than what we have and it is very tough with our fan base as it is. Time to try something new.
I disagree with this move but the way it worked out was not so bad. It at least gives us a game to sort of look forward to with some novelty. This is our bowl game.

The time to make a difference for fan support was to block the ESPN deal
My only issue with this game is the fact that not all lots are opening at 2pm. Not allowing RV parking until 4pm, when those who bring RV's normally have the most to set up is a bit frustrating.

I understand that the White Sox are controlling parking, but more has to be done in the initial contracts to have lots open at the same times they open in DeKalb.

You want people to like these special venue games, try and remember the little things that people enjoy about game days!!!!

I did see that hog and that of you.....You and other RV's are the most visible and should be the priority and I applaud the extra work you all do.

Wonder if you made a phone call...? Or maybe you show up at maybe 3 and they let you in...?
