It really hasn't been much of a rivalry judging by head to head record since 05.

App beats Michigan, Southern comes in with Foster who runs all over the field and pulls out a win 38-35. Armanti Edwards goal line dive in Statesboro, Southern beating App up and down the field in 2014, Price steps out of bounds but it wasn't called correctly and thanks to the Smallcon refs, that win was preserved. 38-37 final scores, etc etc. When the teams play, the atmosphere at the stadium will tell you if it's a rivalry or not.

Rub it in all you want, it's just not going to feel as good as 2013 and 2015 because pretty much everyone except Old Yeller knew this was coming. Just like almost as many knew what was coming for 2014.

The 1-3 record against App in the Jeff Monken years is really the only stretch in the series I can't explain, but other than that we've completely obliterated our advantage in this series with awful coaching hires.

At least VanIdiot and Hatcher could keep the App games at home close, though.

We do have a great rivalry with GS, I just hope it doesn't turn into what our WCU rivalry turned into. Some of us older people remember how enjoyable the late 80's early 90's games with WCU, after that it just turned into a butt whipping for them. Last night was enjoyable but not the same competition level as previous match ups.

Comparing Southern to WCU is really rubbing salt in the wounds. Especially considering that we all know they will be back, and it might not be with this staff but they will bring the option back. Maybe Paul Johnson gets fired at Tech.

Unfortunately, beating Ga Southern is no longer an accomplishment, Most any high school team could do it.
