These projections are pretty worthless. Things change. Teams lose. Bowls pick for financial, business, personal and political reasons.

That said, a couple interesting conclusions. At this point it appears Boise and WMU are in a toss up for the G5 New Year's Day bowl. With a lot of well supported teams having solid years expect the G5 opponent to be a blue blood name like Nebraska, Michigan, Tennessee, LSU, who finishes with a late loss and slips a little in the pecking order. This insures a full house and national attention with added effect of making this a great underdog vs Goliath branding op. personally, I think Navy could cloud the picture if they beat Notre Dame and continue to be a 1 loss team with a solid schedule.

The Rockets are predicted for the 2 low profile Alabama bowls. The more attractive options for a MAC team, such the Miami Beach bowl vs AAC/Houston or S Fla or filling in at the St Petersburg Bowl vs AAC/S Fla or Memphis or Independence Bowl vs ACC all predict a lower profile MAC opponent. Basically, the loser of UT/WMU game has leverage to pick their situation. I doubt out of half a dozen options either would go to the Camella Bowl vs a Sun Belt team. The winner goes the the New Years Day bowl or the contracted MAC bowl with rights this year to the top MAC team.

I also see a scenario where Boise St stays home and plays in that bowl. I don't think they will go undefeated and it's been a while since they represented the hometown bowl. I could see a Toledo/WMU vs Boise matchup as a good draw. I could also see the Rockets playing Houston, S Florida or Memphis in a Florida bowl. There's also several ways the rockets could play a P5 team if a conference can't fill a slot or the Rockets make the New Year's Day bowl.
I want some of what you're smoking because it'll at least numb the disappointment of Toledo being stuck with a bowl versus the Sun Belt. All things being equal BSU will under nearly all circumstances get preferential treatment over WMU. Toledo fans should pray for an at large bid from a bowl who values our explosive offense.
I would love the 10-2 Rockets to get the 10-2 or 11-1 Troy Trojans in the Dollar General bowl. Best bowl experience against a high quality (would be ranked) opponent. Their loss to date is by 6 to Clemson. Id rather play a Belt team than a CUSA team.

well, I'm still rooting for us to keep winning, beat western, win the MACC and go to the New Years Day bowl. If that doesn't happen there's a good chance we still finish w 10 wins and will be one of the most desirable and name G5 bowl teams. That will give the athletic dept leverage and should land us in a nice bowl. There's a lot of considerations for a bowl (is it well run? does the local community support it? who is the opponent? is the date, travel cossts and location good for fans to attend? how much does it pay?)

the Camella Bowl has the lowest per team payout, and is on the first day of bowl games -so hard to plan ahead for travel. I don't see why ESPN has the MAC's 2nd best and (arguably) biggest name team projected for the worst possible bowl game (based on payout, date and perception).

The Potato Bowl is well run and well supported but it is harder to attend, in cold weather and has a low payout.

The Bahamas Bowl is similar although the weather is great.

The St Pete and Hawaii Bowls aren't contracted to take a MAC team but have some benefits (nice locations, a little bigger payout, maybe a little higher profile opponent, good TV ratings for HI Bowl). Either of those might trade a team for Toledo with another bowl or offer us if they are having trouble filling a slot.

The Go Daddy Whatever Mobile Bowl is a well run bowl with good local support and typically takes one of the best MAC teams. It is a probability for the 2nd or 3rd best MAC team.

The Miami Beach Bowl is the most likely destination for the loser (or maybe the winner) of the UT-WMU showdown. It pays out enough for the schools to actually make a little money, has a great location and should feature one of the bigger name AAC teams (Houston, Memphis or South Florida).

the Quick Lane (Detroit) and Independence Bowl and sometimes one or two others often are short a P5 team and use the MAC as a backup (The ACC will likely be short a bowl team or two for their contracted slots). They all payout more than any of the above bowls and usually mean a matchup with a 6-6 or 7-5 P5 team which is comparable to that 10-3 or 8-4 G5 opponent but higher profile and more exciting for players and fans. You can expect teams like the Toledo-WMU loser, the Boise-SDSU loser, Houston, and Memphis to try and snag a game like this if they aren't in line for a good bowl matchup.

Basically, Toledo is in good position. If we keep winning we have a good shot of making the top 25 of the CF Playoff rankings which start after next week. Making that list for the second consecutive year-even if we don't beat WMU and stay ranked- will have us on the short list of G5 bowl teams to get. Folks know Toledo. We may not get all our due respect but there is a lot out there. We are a regular tv team and have earned respect over the years with our play and wins. Should be an exciting conclusion to the season. Keep cheering.
So far, only Toledo and WMU are officially bowl eligible.

BG is officially NOT!!!!!!!!! 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

With one more loss Miami, Kent, Buffalo, and Northern Illinois will not be eligible either.

CMU, EMU, Ohio, & Akron with 5 wins each need 1 more, and Ball State with 4 wins needs 2 more wins to be bowl eligible.
Mobile gets first pick after the NewYears picks are done

St Pete is played inside in a crappy venue

Miami is inside in a new venue in a crappy neighborhood

MAC seems to be taking turns with Bahamas on Christmas and Boise potatos. I bet EMU goes to Bahamas and CMU to Boise

EMU is probably already working on passports

Very nice. Thanks, Boca.
To be perfectly honest, any bowl game against an opponent with 9-10 wins is ok with me even if it's from the Sun Belt or Conference USA. As much as I would love to see us knock off a P5 school, I just worry about how our defense and special teams would matchup against a really strong opponent. At this point, finishing the season with 10 wins is a successful one for me
Really enjoyed Boca Bowl last year. Nice facility. Nice area. Few headaches

Generally not a fan of football in a baseball stadium. Really only decent seats on one sideline

To be honest, I would rather see the Rockets play a Big Ten team in the Detroit Bowl. we will get more national recognition beating a Big Team than beating a 10 win Sun Belt or CUSA team. Look at the press WMU is getting for beating 2 B10 team this year. Didn't see any ESPN stories on the Rockets last year when we beat Iowa St and Arkansas.

Northwestern that lost to Illinois State and Illinois that has 2 wins over Murray State, Rutgers. Georgia Southern lost to Arkansas State.

I think WMU is benefiting from the trailblazing that UT did last season. That's not to suggest that they haven't done their part by winning--I just think it's a little easier for Western to get into the polls without a necessarily "big" win based on voters remembering UT being in there last season...perhaps just as UT finally broke through last season based on the body of work done by NIU, particularly getting to the Orange Bowl. While I think the MAC as a whole gets little respect year in, year out I think it's become easier for the "best" team in the MAC to get voter attention now days...
I want a MAC championship. Any bowl game is gravy. I don't care who we play, post championship.
The BIG gets 9 bowl games including a playoff... outside of the top 2 (one for top 4, other for Rose)... the Quick lane is 7th best. The BIG has 14 teams... Rutgers, Illinois, MSU, and Purdue don't look likely. The rest could all get in. I'd say by APR the BIG will still fill 10 games. So a BIG will play in Detroit this season.

The ACC gets 9 bowls, with 2 other secondaries. 2-5 Virginia, then BC and Duke are the worst with 3-4 records, but the rest should make it.

I fail to see how the MAC plays in that game this season.

ACC is iffy, may depend on if Louisville sneaks into the playoff
