Eh. If we are going to have a I-AA, and we will, it may was well be close.
$190k is a bargain for an FCS buy game, usually about double that.

It definitely is a bargain and i think both sides benefit from this. They don't even have to leave the city and 10 min bus ride won't cost more than couple of thousand.
I like playing Norfolk State. While I don't want to make a habit of playing MEAC teams, NSU is a fun event for the city. Every time they come to us it's always fun. Which makes me wonder why their fans didn't show up when we came to them that one year haha
I would love to see us open against JMU instead of Hampton or NSU for a change. No offense to Hampton and NSU but it's getting tiresome to play them so much.

JMU has FBS games scheduled through 2019. We don't have an opening until 2021. Maybe then?
JMU isn't going to play ODU as long as they remain FCS. Same with W&M.

It would be better but it would also be much more expensive. We have to remember the program is under financial constraints they are trying to work under.

I don't think JMU would play the game either. To spend the kind of money they do at the FCS level, they need the big payday and we won't be offering that.

Don't see our FCS scheduling philosophy changing any time soon.
Who is John P Lego all up in the ODU Football Facebook comments? Is he pro JMU or just anti-ODU? hard to tell. But he appears dialed into the area.
JMU, Richmond and William & Mary have P5 opponents locked in for the foreseeable future -- UR and W&M into the 2020s. They're not going to give up $$$ playing ACC and Big 10 teams so they can accept a buy game against an ODU program that didn't even exist 10 years ago. It's a combination of finances and optics for those programs, and it'd be hard to blame them (if JMU went FBS and ODU didn't, would you want the Monarchs accepting a buy game at Harrisonburg?)
I would rather play and pay NSU and Hampton than Albany 07-coffee3

By 2019 Booman will be a full fledged Monarchs fan!!!! 05-mafia 04-cheers

Talk about the epitome of a bandwagon jumper. Dude has pictures of himself in a VT jersey, WVU jersey and Tennessee jersey. No such thing as loyalty for that guy.
Well I wouldn't say that. He looks like he might be involved as a journalist or radio thing or recruitment services and just rocks wherever he goes. Was just curious because I saw him in the comments of ODU/NSU announcement bring up JMU would stomp us so I started browsing his pics. Seems to have himself in lots of recruits pics. Either a super fan boy or a media type. Was mainly curious because if he's media or a local sports guy that's tied in he sure is anti-ODU and if he has influence that stinks.

He thinks we couldn't score more than 3 points on JMU when CCSU scored 21 so my guess is just a **** talker. Don't worry, I let him know.

Looks more like a high school super fan. Probably turned on us after Dee was fired.

Cause our AD decided to jack up the ticket prices. I would have lowered it to $10 and sold Dick Price out. Easy no effort $300K that he freakin blew

04-cheers I heard you loud and clear booing NSU vs. NC A&T last Thursday night!!!
The deal with Norfolk St. 2019 isn't so bad, worst case if construction hits a snag is delayed for the opener the game could be played across town at NSU, it would buy them 2-3 weeks to get it up and running before Buffalo comes to town. Not ideal for us FBS going over there but does give us an option in a worst case scenario.
