Bowl projections!

CBS Sports
Hawaii Bowl vs. Hawaii

ESPN
Mark Schlabach: New Mexico Bowl vs. Nevada
Brett McMurphy: New Mexico Bowl vs. Air Force (he also calls the school Ole Dominion, which will make great bulletin board fodder when the Monarchs schedule Old Miss)

SB Nation
No bowl (they also have a 5-7 UCF taking CUSA's spot in the New Mexico Bowl, which seems odd)

Sports Illustrated (note: these are as of Oct. 4 so they don't take into account this past weekend's results)
Heart of Dallas Bowl vs. Kansas State
Well look at that!
This "rating" is an average of all the polls that are published.

A few more came in since the start of this thread and we are now at #73.
I have been watching this from our FCS days and this is our highest rating at this point in the season on the FBS ranking.

Awesome! I always wanted to be in the top 100, but top 75 is even better!
Ole Dominion....kinda like Ole Miss....I can dig it.

I have little hope for beating WKU at their place, but if we could pull off beating Marshall or USM in Norfolk that would finally give us a signature win. They're both long shots, but its fun to think we have a chance. Exciting times.

After this weekend, I don't see any of these as long shots. Upsets maybe, but not long shots.

The WKU game is huge. If we can win that one, all we might have to do is beat Marshall at home (very doable) and win the rest of the games that we are supposed to win to be the east champ (even if USM beats us). Let's hope WKU beats MTSU. That would be a nice start.

Although a win over Marshall would be considered a big win by many based on reletive reputations, and that they are IMO are our closest conference recruiting threat, I'm not so sure that beating them would be a signature win at this point. It is quite possible that ODU will be favored in that game even if they lose to WKU.

Based on the way the teams on our schedule are playing now, and the way ODU is playing, I would say we have a chance to beat WKU, a decent chance to beat Marshall, and USM, and a very good chance to beat UTEP, FAU, and FIU.

The chances I give for ODU to win it's remaining games are as follows...

WKU....30%
UTEP...70%
Marshall...60% (because it's a home game)
USM... 50% (because it's a home game)
FAU 70%
FIU 70%

Just a thought on this "signature win" idea, especially as it relates to C-USA. In 2014 we beat La Tech and I think that was their only C-USA loss during the regular season, they won the West, I don't remember how they did in the C-USA Championship Game but they went to a bowl and won it. So, beating them then would, in my mind, be pretty darn similar to beating any of the folks we have left this year. That said, I would still love to beat WKU or USM this year but I am just not sure their resumes this year will be that much better than La Tech's back in 2014. Oh, and if I am remembering the La Tech stuff wrong, never mind.
That has always confused me.
Tim Ward as a top TE might be a typo

Always hated that nickname. Seems self-deprecating and nothing to embrace. It'd be like VCU being proud of being called Va. Convict. U.

Was never a fan either. Only ever heard drunk sorority girls say it though.

Was not the win at Rice kind of a big deal too?

It was. That was a pretty decent Rice team.
