It’s entirely possible that Trump supporters will be on the hunt for “voter fraud” in Pennsylvania on Election Day. That’s worrisome, as it raises the specter of voting-line confrontations and intimidation of voters.

The important thing to recognize is that people can’t just deputize themselves a poll watcher. Under Pennsylvania state law, official poll watchers must be affiliated with a political campaign or party, and there are limits on how many watchers can be at a polling place at any given time. Poll watchers must be residents of the county that their assigned polling site is in. They typically undergo training and must be certified and credentialed in order to enter a polling place and perform their official duties.

This could get ugly.

Not sure what the requirements would be in your state but if you find out, it wouldn't hurt to post it. Might be handy for many of us.

I wouldn't mind being a poll watcher on election day. It could be fun.
A local community college in my district had two one hour classes. You had to go to both to get certified.
You also get paid from what it sounded like.

04-cheers

It's hypocritical as Hades for one to complain about that now given what occurred during the last couple of election cycles. .
Like the Philly Black Panthers?

It doesn't matter unless someone gets hurt. Did anyone get hurt that night?

Does intimidation mean someone gets hurt? Physically?

lol So, intimidation has to include "someone getting hurt" to actually occur? You are hitting the spin on all cylinders today.

Tell that to the Black Panther Party people who basically appointed themselves right outside the doors of voter registration areas and claimed to be poll workers, with no licensing/authorization to do so as I recall.

However, that being said: ANYONE and I mean anyone .. may point out discrepancies in polling areas.

(Machines not facing the right way, poll workers wearing political buttons, candidate proxies within the legal distance from a polling area).

Only the poll-watchers may call in officials to have them removed or things changed. But anyone can speak up about a problem with polling areas (we had it happen at my precinct... they had the electronic voting machines facing the poll-workers, so they could see what you were voting (a no-no by Missouri Law), or mentioning that people with campaign fliers were not outside the legal distance from the door to the polling booth.

A few people pointed it out to them, and I believe it was corrected. (Didnt' stay around.. some of us have to go to work after we vote)

But you didn't post "That’s worrisome, as it raises the specter of voting-line confrontations and intimidation of voters" 4 years ago.

And if in your world it didn't matter then because no one got hurt, can you show who's got hurt 11/8/16.
We need lots of squads to round up these fake Americans!
We need a 24/7 deportation force.

Why is that worrisome? Philly is known for 110% turnout. I volunteered. Some buddies of mine are supplying firehoses.
