Charleston is a bit of a left field pick for soccer, but alright I guess.
Atlanta is a duh for swimming because of the Olympic aquatic center
Pawley's Island and Clinton are also both a bit out of left field.
Berry College in Rome, Georgia for tennis is puzzling. Why not just use the same tennis facilities they use for the Myrtle Beach Open?
Louisville for baseball is the only truly hideous pick here. It should have been at Fluor Field in Greenville with accommodations made temporarily for larger attendance. Hell ... put it in the Braves new stadium. It isn't like they have a team worthy of putting into a new stadium.
Why would a baseball tourney in Louisville be hideous?

Here is the venue.
Are you serious? Slugger Field is one of the best minor league ballparks in the country. Perfect for the ACC tournament.

I agree. It is an impressive college baseball facility.

It's about 500 miles too far WNW.

I don't think that the ACC could have picked a better site than Slugger Field for the baseball championship. The ACC is more than the Carolinas. It's likely a 1 year thing & there's nothing wrong with the ACC coming to us once.

I agree, spirit communications park in Columbia would have made more sense
Shouldn't all those arguments for the ACC Basketball tournament being in NYC apply to baseball?
do they not realize every state has male - female bathrooms. lol been that way forever. i don't think most people in SC are down with a Bruce Jenner taking a no. 2 next to little girls

i'd rather SC not get events that only left NC based on the false premise that it is bigotry not to allow men into female restrooms and locker rooms.

I have no issue with rotating it out to move it around, including the baseball tournament in Louisville. But if you do that, the whole idea is to build up your presence in a market you're not dominant in, or to reward fans in a new area with the ability to attend something a bit special in their area.

But to do either, you need to plan that all well in advance and forge relationships in the local community and use those relationships and contacts to have a full court media/PR press to get the maximum impact. It's like running a convention ... you may only see the work that happens the week of, but it's a year round chore to do it properly. You're not going to do that on short notice.

I get what your saying but I think you'll be surprised at how well Louisville will embrace this tournament. From the radio response and the recent success in baseball Louisville is very excited about hosting this tournament.
The weather (that time of year), location, and park will make this an excellent location. Many baseball fans will enjoy the road trip with an extra visit to the Louisville Slugger museum.
All the tournaments should be put up for bid every season. The days of The ACC being a quaint little regional conference are over. They ended when The ACC stole Miami, Va Tech and BC from The Big East.

It wasn't a problem until The ACC went one step further and invited Pitt and Syracuse. When Maryland left, The ACC inviting a program like Louisville with a bigger budget than any program except FSU, highlighted the changed ACC.

The ACC Baseball Tournament will set records in Louisville. My advice to all ACC baseball fans is come to Louisville and enjoy the games....

With most tournaments seeming to occur in the North Carolina / Florida area, all the teams further north, Va, Va Tech, ND, Louisville, BC, Pitt, Cuse -- we all have to travel quite a ways for everything. Don't see that it should kill the southern schools to have to come a little north. Yeah, we might be the most western location, but we are actually fairly middle if you go north / south. It's a great area that usually has good weather in that time frame -- not super hot or extremely rainy (which seems to happen a lot when we used to go south for the BET or ACC). A spread out conference needs to spread things around to ALL their members, not just focus on one area.
since when is transgender bathroom an issue of monumental import requiring such upheaval ...

Some simply will never accept this fact. It is what it is.

why burden the average baseball fan with an out-of-the-way destination when a centrally located alternative exists ...

HARDER TO BREATHE
The geographic enter of The ACC with the addition of Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Notre Dame and Louisville is no longer in NC. It is now in Virginia, 12 miles not of Mt Airy, I will use Cana, Va. That's 830 miles to conference center for Miami fans and 413 miles for Louisville fans.
