Congrats in all seriousness. That said, beyond the Top 25, rankings in this sense are meaningless. I guess technically the three of us are "in the 40's on the coaches poll", but I'm not sure how much of that is accurate. We know very little about our teams right now. APP is not playing as well offensively this year, South Alabama is the most inconsistent team in the history of college football, and Troy needs a few more games to prove they belong.

I agree with you. I take it as a sign of recognition and our teams are being noticed nationally. It appears we are considered in the top third of FBS programs. Three schools in the top 45 is a very good sign. I think App scored some points for its efforts against Tennessee and South Alabama needs a stay focused from week to week. Troy's only loss is to Clemson by 6 points. All this bodes well for the Sun Belt.
But its kind of a homer pick this time. CJJ voted for us. After Miss State, it was others voting for us.

No, they are not meaningless. If they were, there would be no difference if someone was ranked 26 or 40. If someone is ranked 26, and a team in front of them loses, they can get into the top 25. Someone that is ranked 40 will not jump into the top 25.

Actually, our passing stats are remarkably CONSISTENT.

Its just our Red Zone averages aren't.

I understand the poster's original point. It's all about National recognition. I was saying that specific numbers like 42, 45, and 48 shouldn't be taken at face value. I do agree that it's a foothold into breaking into the Top 25. That said, on Thursday October 20th, one of us will lose that foothold, if not sooner with games vs Georgia State and Arkansas State on the horizon.
Will this be the year a Sun Belt team finally cracks the Top 25?

I don't care who does it... Troy, Appalachian State, South Alabama, Georgia Southern.... I just want somebody to do it because it has yet to happen.
Troy has one close lose to Clemson on the road. Go undefeated the rest of the way and I don't see they don't sneak in at the end. Easier said than done and I hope TXST plays spoilers.

But he voted us 25th, so someone else voted us 25th.
Scott satterfirld is my guess, he also voted
Congrats to all you vote-getters.

And your wins and losses. Once you get into big boy football that the Sun Belt plays, you can't handle the heat. With cupcakes like SDSU and Mississippi State it really is not a surprise why you can't win in conference.
