USM (4-1, 2-0) at UTSA (1-3, 0-1)
Saturday, October 8 at 11:00 AM
USM opens as 14.5 favorite

So far this season
USM won @Kentucky, Savannah St, @UTEP, and Rice
USM lost to Troy
UTSA won season opener vs Alabama St and since then has lost @Colorado St, Arizona St, and @ODU

USM averages 41.8 points a game while giving up 21.4 points a game
UTSA averages 21.8 points a game while giving up 25.2 points a game

USM over the years has that one TTT road game and I'm thinking either this one or later this season at ODU. I like how we've bounced back after the Troy loss so I'm going with USM winning 38-24
I think UTSA has a good QB who could cause trouble. Eagles will need to be ready for him and the 11:00 am start time. The radio announcers last week mentioned how USM started out slow when it was played early last time.
We cannot keep turning the ball over as much as we do and not expect it to bite us in the ass eventually.

Agreed. Against Rice we turned it over 3 times and also fumbled I think 2 more times but were fortunate enough to recover it or it went out of bounds.
I like that UTSA is coming off a bye week to give them a shot. let them heal up after CSU and ASU. Look for them to come out and cover.. if not win, I do think SoMiss is the better team (this year), but after the drubbing at ODU.
Simple, if we continue to turn it over, we lose this game. We don't turn it over, we win.

Agreed! I don't understand why Mullen & Co are turning the ball over as much this season.

I noticed that UTSA is coming off a bye week as well. With UTSA having an extra week to prepare as well as heal any injuries from the first 4 weeks that "could" be the difference UTSA needs. I'm still feeling like as long as USM can eliminate its own turnovers we "should" come out with a win
pain and more pain... for UTSA... smh
They're better than Rice, that's for sure.

If we turn the ball over 2+ times, we could easily lose this game.

It already has. Against Troy.

mullens' interceptions are coming over the middle forcing it....in this case, it was DJ's hands (once again) that cause the one in this game....

...and Ito never fumbles and did it twice....

Rice was never really 'in the game', but there is no doubting we have to limit to two or less every game or we'll lose 2-4 more games with three or more moving forward....

I would disagree with that to a degree considering we were only up 3-0 after the 1st quarter, Rice took a 7-3 lead 6 minutes into the 2nd quarter, and we kicked a 42 yard FG just before the half and were leading 13-7 at the half. Even after we scored 50 seconds into the 3rd quarter Rice came right back and scored to make it a 20-14 game. That's when Staggers scored on the 93 yard pass and Ito scored with about 2 minutes left to go in the 3rd to put us up by 20. When Ito scored that TD is when I finally felt comfortable personally. On a side note Rice scored more 2nd half points on us than the previous 4 opponents had combined. We had shut out UK, Savannah St, and UTEP while "limiting" Troy to a 2nd half TD and 2 FG.
I have a bad feeling about this one...Hopefully it is just gas....
USM 41
UTSA 17
