Former Blazer quarterback Jeremiah Briscoe had a pretty good day today in leading his Sam Houston State team to a 63-28 win over Stephen F. Austin.

25 of 33 for 438 yards and a school record 7 touchdowns.

Go Blazers! #fireRayWatts
Remember that FIU game...oh wait I removed that from my memory. He had a good game against Mississippi State though.
I'll always remember his 88 yard pass to J.J. against Mississippi State. I think it was his first completion of the season if I remember right.

Another former Blazer, Josh Magee, just caught a 20-yard TD pass in the 4th quarter to give South Alabama a 28-24 lead over 19th ranked San Diego State. He has six catches for 83 yards in the game so far.

Gerald Everett has caught five passes for 103 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown. You are welcome, South Alabama.

And while we're at it, former Blazer Jamari Staples has 3 receptions for 23 yards for #3 Louisville, including a key third down catch in the fourth quarter that led to the go-ahead field goal, as the Cardinals now lead 29-28 over 5th-ranked Clemson.

McGee was an excellent recruiter the year and a half he recruited here. His recruiting definitely helped Clark's 6-6 year.

Magee and Clark could have more refugee Blazers drafted in two and a half years combined than Callaway's five year total of three (Webb is a Watson recruit).

Unfortunately McGee was a pretty bad HC, though something in the back of my mind tells me he would be pretty decent with proper resources.

It's kind of funny how much crap people give Watson Brown, but he only won 3 or less games a single time out of 11 seasons. Callaway and Mcgee managed that four times in 7 seasons and those four times were the worst four seasons in the school's history under sports-reference's simple rating system.

I totally agree.

And Brown was the only coach who had neither new nor even renovated facility upgrades with which to work / prepare his team to play. Some have cited and held "backstage" political maneuvers against him, but those have claim to more "insider" knowledge than most fans have. The Coach Brown of his last two years was a mere shadow of the guy I saw in the first years. After Hackney and White left, he was ready to go elsewhere.

BTW, I saw a #14 ORTH in a Jags uniform last night so he is still on that squad. He was our frosh QB in 2014.
McGee had every resource every other UAB coach had.

03-lol What does that even mean?

Lowest winning percentage of any coach in school history.

I only talked about his recruiting didnt involve record. Im saying we wouldnt know where we would be with Magee since this would be his 5th year. I know Clark fix the defensive problem some and we got to 6-6. Magee had two of the better offensive seasons ive seen around here. One with Austin Brown passing when Ellis shouldve took the 6th year. Also one where we almost had two 1000 yd rushers. If only his defensive staff improve a little bit looking at numbers he could get another shot.

I'd buy that argument if we had fired him. But the fact is that he quit on the program, and thankfully so. His conditioning program was destroying some kids' careers. He was a terrible guy to some of our staff people, and even worse, he was terrible to many of his players and coaches. I can see how he was able to recruit a few great players early on because we were all excited about him early on, but he would not have been successful if he had stayed because of two big problems:

1. He mistreated people - players, coaches, and staff
2. He didn't believe in UAB. He wanted to at first, but when challenges presented themselves, he turned and ran. Compare that to what we have seen from Clark.

Two of our head coaches didn't believe in UAB - McGee and Callaway. The other three did/do - Hilyer, Brown, and Clark. Compare their records, and you'll see how important that belief is.
