Believe your mentioning the 2014 game in Hattiesburg, where they won 41-23. Rice finished that year as a pretty good team going 8 & 5.
Seven years before was an historical moment in the football program. On Friday night, Sept. 27th, 2007 the Eagles played at Boise State and got the snot beat out of them 38-16. Came home to Hattiesburg, and had to play Rice on a Wednesday night....October 3rd...and the Eagles lost 31-29. Rice ended up 3-9 that year, and this game was the beginning of the end for Bower. USM went on to play in the Papa John's dot com bowl in Birmingham, where tears flowed and anger is still festering.
