A brief synopsis:

10 years ago this past Sunday, the Saints played their first game back in New Orleans post-Katrina. I was living there at the time so this hits home for me.

Anyway, in that game Steve Gleason had what will probably go down as the most famous blocked punt in NFL history. (Certainly the only that was, or ever will be, memorialized in sculpture.) If you know anything about New Orleans' struggle to rebuild in the wake of the storm, you'll understand why it was such a big deal.

Gleason would go on to be diagnosed with ALS in 2011 and is now confined to a wheelchair and has to speak with the aid of a computer. He does amazing charity work in the New Orleans area.

What I DIDN'T know, and why I'm posting this here, is that Bonamego at the time was one of the Saints' special teams coaches that drew that play up.

Enjoy.
