UC vs Houston drew 2.159 mil viewers.
This is the highest rated Thursday or Friday game thus far.
In comparison:
Louisville vs Suracuse - 1.73M
Hawaii vs Cal - 782k
USC vs Vandy - 1.942M
Indiana vs FIU - 211k
Kansas St vs Standford - 1.358M
Colorado vs Colorado St - 1.073M
These numbers probably mean more to the Big 12 than the score.

I'll take the UC numbers but methinks it reflects national curiosity about Houston and the remarkable job that Tom Herman is doing there. An upset win would have been nice for our Bearcats, but I am still satisfied that they played to their abilities.
Worst case, if UC remains in the AAC it suggests that the conference can attract big numbers on national TV. If Aresco can't leverage that with ESPN there should be other suitors. No, it won't bring P5 money but it should be a substantial upgrade that puts the AAC on an island between the P5 and the remaining G5 conferences.

Maybe, but we did have a 1.5 last year v. Memphis on Thursday and similar numbers v. Miami and Byu.
This is great news for us. Mostly because anyone who looks at the final score thinks it was a blowout. But if people actually watched, they knew that it was a very close game.

We've been a strong weeknight draw going back to 2007 or 2008. I can think of a number of Thursday night game rating success stories and it is reflected by the fact that we always have a couple slots each year.

We aren't in a power conference, we don't make $25M a year on TV, we are not a large land grant school, etc. but our branding is such that if we have a half-way decent opponent a lot of people will watch.

Looks like a 6.7 Nielsen rating for #UHvsCin in Houston on ESPN, which is a strong number. #jetsvsbills, by comparison, did 7.7 on Ch. 11.

So I guess we trounced Houstons ratings ? They seem to be using the same metrics.

That is really good when you are going up against an NFL broadcast.
