COLUMBIA, S.C. - You have to look very hard to find a college football coach who plays the underdog card any better than South Carolina coach Lou Holtz.
Last week, when asked about his team's chances against Virginia, Holtz responded "comparable to the stripper that's running for governor in California." The Gamecocks won 31-7.
When asked during Monday's weekly press conference to handicap Saturday's SEC opener against the eighth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (3:30, CBS) Holtz had this to say:
"There's probably a better chance of us rescheduling it than there is of us winning it," said Holtz, who never cracked a smile, even after the laughter subsided.
Las Vegas odds-makers have provided Holtz with more ammunition as well. Georgia is listed as a 151
