We all know they are king of SEC Basketball. However, they are the worst bottomfeeder of SEC Football. So what say you SEC fans?07-coffee3
Every P5 conference has that team(s) that are always at the bottom of the rankings. If Alabama is always winning SEC titles, someone is probably always losing.

Can UK improve? Under Stoops, barring this season, I thought they did. We'll see how much more that program can rise. They'll need competitive facilities to compete with the SEC and Louisville for recruits. We'll see though. They have a shot, just need the right pieces.
Yes they belong. Because you can ask the inverse question of most SEC schools regarding basketball. There is no reason for UGA, Auburn, SCAR and Bama to as bad in basketball as they are.

If Louisville, WKU, and Cincinnati can excel and compete on the gridiron, there is no reason for the Wildcats to not do so as well save for a lack of commitment.
I'd take this question a little more seriously if it wasn't a troll job.

But yes, they do belong.
Yes

Does Louisville academics belong in the ACC? ?
The thing I don't get about Kentucky is the fact that they have actually recruited well. They've gotten into Ohio big time. Which is what they have needed. So I guess it comes down to coaching.

This is true. I like what Pearl is doing right now and hopefully he gets us turned around.

The answer is 100% lack of commitment. On our part in basketball. All 3 programs are making strides now. Solid hires, it just takes a couple of years. I am hoping we can all get it turned around and then stay committed to the basketball success.

With UK basketball will always be king. It's what they do, but they have enough talent that they should be better. I'm starting to wonder about Stoops.

I would say that the answer to both questions is no but both universities bring something that both conferences need. We both strengthen our conference weakness & both have really good athletic departments while neither is poor academically.

Would UK football be better off in another conference? That's really a question that gets debated here occasionally but there is zero chance of the cats leaving. It's good talk radio filler & it's good trolling bait.

Kentucky actually made a lot of progress under Brooks so I think it comes down to having the right coach there. Joker bombed & they lost all the progress they gained under Brooks.
Of course they belong...
Obviously as a KU fan I'm empathetic to the notion of an underperforming football school earning their keep by carrying the flag in basketball, but I agree that they belong.
Just because they aren't that competitive doesn't mean they don't belong. They still have a ton of fans and resources so it not like they can't one day be good with the right coach and some luck in recruiting.

They are recruiting pretty well. I blame this on coaching and player development.

Vandy is really the only school that "doesn't belong" because they are so different culturally and in terms of size. But they are in the club and everyone likes an easy win so they stay.

Solid defensive performance for the Gamecocks today! Kudos!
everyone in the sec belongs, kentucky can ball on the court and they (based on rpi) get an additional team in the dance from the conference every year (unfortunately that was vandy this year and not the cocks). The SEC has a good group of schools that i wouldnt change for the world, though id like to add v tech and Oklahoma if the opportunity came (No Texas). This is a louisvile fan op trying to troll UK.

We take wins any way they'll come
I don't intend to start a pissing match but I'm much happier with UK than I would be with Louisville. I sure wouldn't trade them for the Cardinals, not for one second.

Concur
Thanks SEC brothers, nice to see UofL fans are forever thinking about UK as always, even though they should be enjoying the great start to their own season.

Re: UK football, it's all on the coaching. We've done our best recruiting in eons, and, unlike many of the years of previous coaches, we actually have, by and large, a complete SEC-caliber roster now, with a few exceptions, in terms of talent. The coaching is abysmal though, and there is absolutely a huge lack of adjustments as games go on. Also a clear lack of effort in many cases, and inexcusable for this early in the season. No disrespect to Florida, they clearly are better than UK, but I mean, they aren't THAT MUCH better than us as the score and the game indicated last week - it was clear many players weren't even there physically and for week two of a season, you've gotta wonder how that could ever be.

I'd heard that UK was using the same in-game defensive signals during the 2nd half of the opener vs Southern Miss that they used all of last year - of course this is notable because the USM offensive coordinator, Shannon Dawson, was our OC last year. SMH.

I don't wanna go as far as to say it's a similar situation to Billy Gillispie in basketball several years back, but it is becoming apparent also that Stoops could be kinda hard to get along with too... he's on his 3rd offensive coordinator already, and the two he ran off are doing much better in their new gigs.

Ready for basketball season, where we'll do our part for conference pride, no worries!
