Offense:

Fine is the future- He only saw garbage time, but looked very comfortable in the offense. He will be splitting time with Morris against Cookman.

Wilson is the Weapon- Wilson rushed for 86 yards and a TD, and had 6 catches for another 55 yards.

Look at the True Freshmen!- Fine looked fine, but Rico Bussey and Kelvin Smith also had a pair of catches.

The Bottom Line- O-line was the biggest concern leading into the season. They played fair in their first outing, but must improve for NT to be competitive in C-USA.

Defense:

The Other Bottom Line- The D-line played big at times. Hood is huge.

Speed Kills- And lack of it is killing our defense. Aside from Wheeler and true freshman Hamilton, the LBs are too slow. When they are out of position, it makes it even worse.

Strength of the D?- The secondary was said to be deep and strong. Didn't see it against SMU. Blown coverages. Out of position, Poor technique.

Special teams:

Nothing Special- Dropped punts. Slow to cover kicks. Lost the battle for field position.

Overall Grade: D-

We will see how many of our issues are addressed by next Saturday against Bethune-Cookman.
