Proce$$...
Wonder what the excuse is this time? It way too soon to be interviewing for his next job, so he wasn't likely distracted in preparing for this game the way he most likely was the last time he lost.

Might be a long season in Ames this year, but at least it pays well and I do hear that is a truly delightful place to raise a family.
Campbell getting ripped apart on Twitter. Here's a sample of what he can expect in Ames: @ISUMattCampbell one hell of a storm. Start coaching and slow down on the tweeting.

Welcome to the big league Matt!
lol, awesome
"The Storm Has Arrived" and it wasn't the ISU Cyclones....
Bet a lot of Iowa State freshman wish they were Toledo Rockets instead...
As reported in the DeMoines Register, the Matt Campbell era begins with a nightmare

A STORM IS BREWING!!!!!!
I'm moving on. I'll consider this one loss my schadenfreude moment. Didn't care for HOW he left but from all accounts otherwise and on other occasions, he showed class. He kept our program clean and he did help a lot of kids become better and move on. Not seeing a point in falling to his lowest common denominator and showing the same lack of class. So here's my quick snicker... 03-lmfao

forcing myself now, to move on.
I guess that I don't see the point in celebrating his losses. He was part of the group that helped pull Toledo out of the muck. Toledo was a cesspool of players who didn't care about football or academics before his arrival with Beckman. He is one of the reasons Toledo is at the top of Mac academics. He is one of the reasons that you don't read about UT players committing armed robbery and stealing purses at casinos. He is also the reason why you were able to celebrate a win Friday, despite only returning 3 players on defense. Wouldn't it be great if he succeeded and Toledo became known as the New Cradle of Coaches of the MAC? Toledo is a college football coaching stepping-stone. Enjoy the prospects of this season.

True but when the program had a shot at the Holy Grail of G5 football, all the evidence points to the fact that he put his personal interests above those of the program which suggests to me that was his priority all along.

PS: The function of a stepping stone is to be continually walked over by everyone and that doesn't appeal to me. Of course it is always better to have a successful coach leave for a better job than to have to fire a failed coach who has totally wrecked the program----of course how a successful coach chooses to leave the program has a lot to do with my feelings toward them.
I expect Mr. Matt (aka Jason) Campbell to be eligible for a volunteer coaching position within 5 years.

Iowa State fans already posting about the hype and glitz Campbell brought to Ames--slogans, videos, new entrance song into the stadium for the team, the "process"...looks like the honeymoon is over unless he beats Iowa.

I did find something karma-esqu in the Iowa State game. Campbell called a time out to ice the Northern Iowa kicker when the ball was spotted on about the 3 yard line...and Northern Iowa used that time out to change their mind, go for it, and got the TD.
It's all in good fun. I don't blame the guy for leaving. You have to go when you stock is high and when someone else wants you, not after the balloon has popped. Hopefully he learned his lesson about the mixed messages he gave our young men along the way as some take this stuff more serious than others (about commitment to the team etc.). Might not want to lay it on so thick during his next stay.

Good stuff here:
@NotMattCampbell

"I came here to chew gum and kick ass and apparently I have a lot of gum left"

"how fast can you deport like 40 northern iowans"

"a fun thing to try sometimes is tackling the fella with the ball prior to crossing those orange stick things"

"in all fairness that would have been a great punt if the field was 50 yards"

"TIME TO CONSULT THE LIST"

If I'm going to stay on that guy's case then I think I have to remember that our present guy had followed him, until the UT position was offered. Keeping one vendetta seems to mean to keep two.

Trying to do the job you don't have instead of the one you now have. Not usually a path to success.
Campbell can't beat Northern Anything.
