Per McMurphy:

Memphis did not make latest Big 12 expansion cut sources told @ESPN. The 11 that did: AF BYU UCF Cincinnati UConn CSU UH Rice USF SMU Tulane
so Temple also is out from the initial list of 12 from a few days ago.
Let the Hunger Games begin!
This is such good pub for Rice.

If there was any question before, they are now a shoe-in to replace Houston in the American if Houston gets promoted.
C. Austin Cox's Twitter follower count be like,

Yeah Yeah Yeah you still haven't heard our prez say a word or concede. I mean if that is accurate then they're no longer bound to the NDA right
McMurphy is about as connected an insider as you'll find. He doesn't tweet it unless his source is solid.
Now I understand for some reason ESPN'S hacks really really want Memphis out but I haven't seen fox or any rep from the big12 or the University say anything. Boy those hater tears are going to be sweet. Lol

If this comes down to academics, which it possibly could be; then I think that Rice along with Tulane might be going to the B12.
Hard to believe that Memphis is out if UCF/USF are still in the running.

Unfortunately, the Tiger faithful have been misled by Tiger Cane and his ilk who turned out to be nothing more than

That's probably a stretch. I think that perhaps an academic baseline was drawn that all the remaining candidates meet, but academics won't necessarily be the primary factor in who they ultimately invite.

O.K. For Houston, UCF, USF and Cincinnati's sake I hope that you are right.
Sounds like it's true.
I can see it now. Big12 officials "well fellas we all have our hands full with 2 solid days of actual football business but hey let's cut Memphis now instead of Tuesday for no particular reason then tell McMurphy and Trotter instead of the Memphis ad". I guess that's really a logical situation,,,
Do we need to put an APB out for TigErsCaNe and TripleA?

USF and UCF lot better schools academically, than Memphis. If Memphis is out and Rice and Tulane are still in, B12 is sending a message, who they want to associate with academically.

Doubling down?

Remember the anonymous quote from a Big 12 AD or president, "If we admit Memphis, that's not a conference we want to be in."

That was when I figured Memphis had no chance.
