So that tells me that at lest one source said Memphis is a finalist, while another couldn't confirm it. McMurphys sources clearly aren't pro-Memphis if you've been following B12 expansion closely.

That report is probably pretty accurate. As far as Memphis it is hard to imagine they did not make the cut but it is also hard to imagine they will get in unless they invite four schools. Don't think anyone thinks that is going to happen now.

I hope they take Rice and Tulane

Rice and SMU make no sense other than PR or SWC history. So for skepticism reasons, makes you wonder who gave McMurphy/Trotter this info and why is it so different than the list released earlier in the day?

Why can't the ESPN guys get a certain answer on Memphis and if they can't, can there report be trusted?

Maybe the reason they could not confirm Memphis as in a final twelve is because Memphis is already in but can't be announced now.

Title should be "NOT confirmed as a finalist" per espn.

Unconfirmed means there is no official word but an understanding it is the case.

NDA? Except that 10 schools have "disclosed" they are in the cut and several (like ECU and UNLV) have disclosed they aren't in.

NDA came from Tulane. Why should the cut school care even if they did an NDA once they aren't in contention?
