That was kind of what I was thinking but in Southern that covers it well enough.
You'd need a lot more than just their one convention to make that plan viable.

Sadly, I can see some on the city council actually pushing this.
How bout that idiot proposes that Memphis invest in its public school system?

Agreed. In another article, cogic said they estimated they brought almost $150 million into the st louis economy over the last 5 years.

It sounds like the cost of the what cogic wants could cost the city of memphis over $1 billion.
How typical of them
Rebuilding Libertyland would make more sense.

Literally!!!!
Of course if they do not get free rental of the arena for their convention they will get pissed and not come back.

Seriously doubt they pumped $150 million into St Louis economy. Some of the worse tipper and tight with the buck conventions ever to come to town. Ex worked at restaurant and they came in took over half the restaurant and ran three waitress crazy and left less than $1 per person tip.
Show me the money.
Unfortunately, the Bishop wasted his time in writing this. The city can barely keep basic services going much less build a $1B sports project like this.

By the way, the mayor he wrote this to (Strickland) is the same mayor that voted AGAINST building Tigerlane and he admitted to it (give him credit for that).

Point is Strickland is a bolts and nuts guy do the basic not a growth oriented person. My guess is you want see the city engage in ANY new major public building until he's out of office.
if COGIC wants to pay for said improvements...including heavy investment into a new 55,000k football arena (like 85%), then I'm ok with it.
Are they gonna contribute any money or are they gonna do like they do to downtown restaurants?

No tippin Pippen
