I refrained commenting on their situation but posted a link to an article by a local news station that had an interview with the victims which really had not been addressed.. I have been blocked by the powers that be. Those individuals have shown what they're made of.

Reinstated-Thank you!
Articles can't seem to decide if the Ohio kid is an 18 year old or a 20 year old Freshman. Given that we recruited George, I don't see how this reflects more on their program? If there was something in the kid's background to indicate this, we were every bit as responsible as WMU for finding it. Apparently, we didn't.

Let him and the other player have their day in court before judgment one way or another

Big believer in due process. Unfortunately the process can be prolonged
and the victim may just want to move on like in the case of a for MAC FB
player, whose victim chose to get on with their life after a lengthy judicial process, probably where justice was not served.
NBC, which is the largest station in the Tampa Bay area, did a two minute story during primetime regarding the two football players and the interview with the victim. It was a two minute segment, pretty sad!
I put this same thread up on the WMU site and it got erased. I actually heard that other folks have had their stuff erased. Is WMU trying to manipulate the coverage?

Why would any organizationl or political candidate try to do that?

This one?

WMU has the most interesting board going. About half their posters seem to genuinely hate the other half, plus most of the people in their half. Most threads quickly dissolve into the "you're an idiot-no, you are" type posts. Some excellent guys, too, but there's some seriously odd ones over there.

Certainly some good posters on their board. Some of the good ones have been chased off by troll types.

It was pretty divided with the Fleck hire. There was already some highly loyal to Cubit who was more old school, and then here we introduce Fleck's eccentric and frenetic style. Oil and water. So an older "traditionalist core" vs. a younger "let Fleck wave his crazy flag" group battle emerged.

Things really went off the rails after a long megathread got some folks inadvertently caught in some real-life hot water (I won't go into detail... some of you long time posters who've lurked around the board know what I'm talking about).

You guys sure dodged a bullet. It was this close to being your problem. 05-duck

I used to visit a lot-even before the lawsuits you guys had some "interesting" personalities. Chip dip and Desert Bronco used to have some epic battles and CD was on every MAC board about a year ago complaining about some player from CMU. Guy was absolutely never wrong about anything even when there was irrefutable evidence that he was.

Yup, hated to see that.

Our coach would have probably talked to them a little more about behavior and less about boat rowing! 04-cheers

There are judgements and there are judgements. I don't think any coach i a position similar to this is in a position to wait for a court's decision. But if you mean, before "writing off these kids," I'm with you 100%. If you mean in not condemning WMU's program, I'm also with you 100%.
Kapernick is right. Correct the injustices being committed yet again.

This SI article is a bit dated - five years old - but apparently hardly any colleges perform criminal background checks on recruits. Which kind of surprised me, to be honest.

"Among the 25 schools in the investigation, only two -- TCU and Oklahoma -- perform any type of regular criminal background searches on recruits. But even TCU and Oklahoma don't look at juvenile records. No school does, even though football and basketball players are among the most high-profile representatives of a university. (Of the 25 schools, only Virginia Tech did any type of background checks on admitted students, and admissions questionnaires at more than half the other universities ask applicants if they have ever been arrested.)"

Oklahoma started checking criminal records when Switzer was coach. He wanted to be sure his recruits had a record.

Your coach looks to be accepting responsibility. In what form that might take? Admission of mistake is a step though.
