We went to the Hewitt Trussville game against Manatee HS from Florida. Through the end of the third quarter, Grayson Cash had 4 TD's ( 2 running and 2 receiving as I recall), and at least 200 all purpose yards. David Acfalle had some good defensive plays, including a quarterback sack, and also a pick 6!. HT was leading by 50 to 34 when we packed it in for the night.
UAB commit Grayson Cash finished with

246 yds rushing,
47 receiving,
66 return yards &
6 TD's.

I forgot to add that Cash also punted the ball once from Wildcat formation.
Clay-Chalkville wins a flagfest at Bessemer City, 33-30.

Clay fumbled at midfield with 2 minutes to play, down 30-27, and it looked pretty grim. Then the BC coach lost his mind and called a pass play on 2nd and 12 which is compounded by his QB getting knocked out of bounds 8 yards back and saving Clay a timeout.

After a terrible punt (BC's punts were all an adventure) Clay gets it around midfield with about a buck-thirty on the clock, and scores in under a minute.

Saw Baldwin County rout Gulf Shores 44-9. It was actually close for a half until BCHS' depth took over. It's funny; the Tigers had a full sideline, and the Dolphins had five guys named Moe. They have a pretty good QB, though; that, and their offense reminds me of Navy's.
Watched Homewood fall to Vestavia Hills but was impressed by the fight in the Patriots. Had a few too many mistakes but fewer than the first game.

It seemed that VH had twice as many players than HWD and many that were quite large.

Oh well. Next week we host Parker in regional action.
