Here we go, lads. 10 days to kickoff. Let's hear those predictions for week 1.

I'm going to call for the Terrell to Davis connection to pick up right where it left off, with Terrell throwing bombs and Davis making defenders look silly. The Earth, Wind and Fire monster coming out of the backfield (Franklin, Bellamy and Bogan) will wear down NW's front 7 over the course of the game.

But NW's strong run game will also score points on a Bronco defense with questions in the linebacking corps. I expect improved play out of our DL and LBs this year with the new coaches and experience along the line. But NW's talented RB (Justin Jackson) will still run for 125 yards behind a big, experienced O-line. NW's floundering passing game will fail to score points when needed.

Phillips takes one to the house, just as he did in the opener last year vs. MSU. WMU special teams play wins the field position battle, contributing greatly towards a WMU victory.

Call me a homer, but WMU hangs on for the win.

WMU - 35
NW - 31
I think we lose a heartbreaker - maybe 26-24 on a last-minute field goal. Then lose one more game the rest of the season to either NIU, Toledo or CMU. Finish the season ranked 27th nationally.
Justin Jackson leads a NW time consuming, ball possession offense to a 21-7 halftime lead. 2nd half sees the Broncos cut the lead to 24-21 but it's too late. NW 31-21.

Broncos will be competitive, but are too inexperienced on D (particularly linebacker) to stop the Wildcat's quick & shifty spread-option attack. However, the experience competing against it will serve the Broncos well when they face similar offenses later in the season.

Northwestern University (NU, not NW) - 35
Western Michigan University (WMU) - 27
NW - less
WMU - more
Last team to score wins.
Robert Spillane has a coming out party. Northwestern QB plays not to lose. So they LOSE.

WMU 35
NU 13
I think the game should be close...but WMU seems to always blow it against B10

THIS!

Northwestern leads 38-31 late in the forth.

We drive all the way down to the 7 yard line and turn if over on downs.

Defence steps up and shuts them down for 4th and 7, from their 10, 1:39 left, clock running. They take delay of game penalty to make it 4th and 12 from their 5.

They snap the ball and run around in the endzone, safety given up with 0:15 left, cutting the Wildcats' lead to 38-33.

Wildcats kickoff to Phillips who runs it back 89 yards for a TOUCHDOWN!! Wait, there's a flag on the field......officials conference.....referee cues the mic, waving flag in the air, "there is no foul on the play for holding or block in the back, end of game".

Broncos win, Broncos win!! 38-39 is the final score. A small group of WMU fans in section 106 and all of section 135 erupt and storm the field. Team carries Fleck off the field. Oars are seen out the windows of multiple vehicles (simulated paddling) on east bound I-94 later in the day.

Headline reads Wildcats get Zipped by Broncos

Lol, I thought we agreed never to mention that game again? 01-lauramac2
WMU 31 N.W 28. IN A SLUG FEST. BOTH TEAMS OVER 450 YARDS OFFENSE.
First games are often conservative feeling out processes. Offenses tend to be more conservative, making Ds look better than they are.

NW runs an option attack which we have struggled with. Our defense seems to take a half to settle in.

Half- NW 17 WMU 7
Final- NW 31 WMU with a late rally 27

Win a close one at Illinois

The GSU game will tell if this staff can design a game plan or just recruit. They've had a year to figure out a game plan.

2-2 would be a good start, 3-1 an awesome start.
WMU has nothing to lose in this game. I think that we are going to take some lumps... and just hope we maintain some health going through this game.

I watched the NU/Stanford game from last year on the BIG10 network last week... NU runs the crap out of the ball... and does it well... If we dont bring some active LB'ers and make solid tackles in space this game could look quite a bit like last years Georgia Southern game...

I think we show some promise but lose by double digits... I just don't have much confidence at this point with our front 7 on defense... I think NU rips off 5-7yds on the ground every play... I hope I am wrong, but if it looks like an undersized DL in spring and summer... its likely still and undersized DL in the season opener...

WMU - 24
NU - 41

I hope I am wrong.

Go BRONCOS!
I predict the team that scores the most points wins.
WMU 34 Northwestern 28

1st game towards Peej getting out of Kalamazoo. 02-13-banana
Northwestern won 10 games last year in a P5 conference. I hope we can keep it close.
It's a must win game for a Boise State aspiring program. Our first BCS/p5 win under Peej03-shhhh

but...but...but they won a bunch of close games and the Stanford win shouldn't count because Stanford wasn't ready for NW.
