Perhaps the most overused phrase in college football pundit history, but if there is ever a game to label it as, does the WIU game qualify? A week after a possible top 25 opponent visits Dekalb, and a week before NIU's most important two game road trip of the year to start conference play no less. Normally I would still feel great against an FCS opponent, but objective rankings have WIU about in the middle in terms of rank of our opponents. I just hope the Huskies don't look past this team on the 24th whether they are 0-3 coming in, 3-0, or anything in between

I don't think they're looking past anyone this year... just a general vibe from the team

Much like the team, MD is trying to get into serious form early on so as not to be caught off guard later. I applaud his efforts, even if they are annoying at times. Gotta admire the tenacity

For this year I'll be responsible for worrying about the Ball State game as a trap game. If we each take a game we'll have the whole year covered.

I'll take Eastern Michigan.
We love you MD, lol
I will pick the Toledo as the trap game. Between the BG last "home" game of the year and EMU the week after, this will be a tough game to get up for.

Dog Fan is "up" for anything, hopefully the team will be too!

Thank you for the compliment, buy, alas, I am getting old. 03-weeping It is no longer easy getting up for everything (well, almost everything). These days I need help and am always looking to accept new volunteers.

If the Huskies beat SDSU, then WIU becomes a should win game vs an non-MAC opponent, so it could be a trap. Chances are that after playing USF and SDSU, the Huskies' will find out where their weaknesses are and they will need to work on them vs WIU, before the MAC schedule starts.

LOL. I don't think the Pepsi cans will be any match for NIU...

#1Western Illinois (7-6; 3-5 away): They're tougher than record indicates, playing a Tough SEC-like schedule for D1AA. But losing 44-0 to Illinois, 2 of their wins in OT, and 1 win by 1pt -- they weren't a dominant team in D1AA, but certainly no push-over. They come in ranked #24 in FCS this year.

If NIU upsets San Diego State -- I could see this being a potential trap game. If they lose to SD-State -- I see this as the Opposite of a trap game. In the end, I don't care if the FCS team is ranked in the #20s which reflects last year. If they were under .500 in FCS on the road, even playing tough FCS competition, there's no reason they should give NIU a run for it's money past 3 quarters if NIU came in napping a bit.

#2@Ball State -- I see this as a trap game, if BSU plays decently well in OOC season. NIU could easily be looking past BSU toward @WMU. Especially after WMU is CMU. Easily to overlook Testicle Tech when PJ Fleck is parading right behind them.

#3Buffalo -- I can see this being a trap game coming after NIU beating CMU at home. NIU really wants to beat CMU, and it'd be a big sigh of relief when that happens. With a bye week after the Buffalo game, I could see NIU being too comfortable going into it and risk slipping if Buffalo gets things rolling.
MD the trap game was the spring game -- we are out injury free. We're fine. Let the boys play
