I'm an eternal forward looker and don't concentrate on the present as much as I should. Don't know if thats a good thing or bad. But at this stage at this time of year, I'd like to present my long range hope of what the future holds for TU. So here is a little observation and optimisitc look forward over the next five years.

1. Go to five straight bowls in CFB. As of this year TU has been to 20 bowl games and we have a number of excellent players coming back. We lose Dane after this season and Josh Atlkinson and possibly Keevan, but imo we are recruiting well enough to add the pieces we lose. Hobbs, Carter, Louie and some of the recruits and commits can make up the graduate losses imo. Time creates maturity and the key is getting Monty's kinds of recruits. We have to understand that very few of the kids PM is now coaching were recruited by PM. Defensively its the same. The caveat is whether the AD can keep the staff here and the intangibles like the IPF on the board. Its not just salary's, its whether we can recruit at a higher level. But the goal is 5 bowls.

2. We have 16 NCAA banners now on the rafters. I'd hope we could get more put up and Haith now has his players on campus. So IMO if we have recruited well, then the goal in MBB should be the 20th NCAA banner in 2020. That would mean 4 NCAA's in the next 5 years. Its doable imo. Maybe even a sweet 16 or two might also be possible.

3. In the minor sports, I'd like to see our womens basketball team go to post season (NCAA-NIT) every other year and the softball team win the league every other year which would give them the "auto berth" in the NCAA when they accomplish that.

So thats my optimistic hope. For instance we've gone to 9 bowls in the last 13 years and two NCAA's in the last 3. So just keep the ship pointed forward.

The hope is 25 bowls and 20 NCAA banners (to go along with our two NIT championships in 1981 and 2001).

Not many schools could match that, especially the ones we play on a regular basis.

IMO
