We need to stop waiting on the Big12....being way too reactive. This conference obviously has value....just about all of us on the magical short list for Big12 pretend expansion. We should he going hard after the best teams left. Create a league that has to be considered the best of the rest. Not better, the best.

I see NO benefit to adding NIU. No offense but they have no penetration in their market, horrid basketball and create another island in a cold weather location.

Wichita State (No football of course)
Army (Outside of using Government money)
Air Force (Same thing)
CSU
Boise (Based on academics and the state of Idaho)

NIU has solid academics and athletics programs all around and BYU, much like Liberty, has the ability to tap into their fundamentalist groups to demand payment (which works) because Liberty used to be a college in Lynchburg and now Lynchburg is a city that Liberty is in.

You did see where App State is 50th in preseason and you are 109th. This is App's second season in full FBS and they already did something that Boise and Marshall didn't do as well as something no Sun Belt football program has done.

Win 11 games, Win a bowl game in their first eligible season. Out recruit and finish in rankings higher than ECU. Academics are rated higher than ECU's. The only thing missing is the athletic budget which would also increase with a move to a conference with more money and more appeal on a week to week basis.

One season. Yes, our basketball is putrid as well but historically we're about the same. We have a better fanbase, baseball and location.

What do you hope to accomplish with this? The American is already viewed as the top G5 conference. Continue to take care of business and more often than not, the AAC gets the access bowl. By inviting in these other characters you're inviting parity. Parity allows a Marshall or a Toledo to steal that access bowl away from the AAC. A scheduling alliance with, say, the Mountain West might make sense.
