The Big 12 announced the 17 schools they will speak with about expansion:
Cincinnati, Houston, BYU, South Florida, UCF, UConn, Memphis, Colorado State, Boise State, Tulane, Temple, East Carolina, SMU, New Mexico, and Northern Illinois
These are actually all of the schools that contacted the B12 about membership...

We should have contacted them as well. It doesn't matter if we don't get in. We just need to show that we are proactively trying to improve our situation.
doesn't appear the BIG12 will actually expand according to espn artice..

They list 14 of the 17 schools and mention they will most likely go to two, six-member divisions.

Yep because UAB has more potential than alot of those schools ,and im talking about the athletic department as a whole.
Only a fool of a UAB administrator/leader wouldn't contact the Big XII, especially with others like NIU throwing their name in the hat. Oh wait...

Exactly. Obviously a long shot, but if NIU is contacting them we should have as well. All they can do is say no.
Gee, I wonder who the fool is?
When 17 schools get in line to apply for two or four openings, what can it hurt to be #18? It's like applying for a teaching job in Vestavia where there are hundreds of applicants for each open position. (Of course, Alabama just hired a new State Superintendent of Education who has never held an administrative post in education before. Nothing is like starting at the top.)
But if your Texas and Oklahoma lol......

I think the sec, acc, big 10, and pac are having a good laugh at this

That's because those conferences already have lucrative TV contracts like the Big 12 envies. How well would the SEC deal with a separate "Crimson Tide Network" - like the Longhorn Network - within its realm?
Memphis sent Rendevous ribs to the president of Texas Tech.

I think it was wise not to waste time contacting them when we aren't even playing football now. We have to prove we are serious in other ways than empty gestures.

The same way BlazerTalk deals with an Crimson Tide poster within its realm.

Welcome back, BamaScorpio. Where have you been? You haven't posted in ages.

Just been observing. I don't really have a lot to say about UAB Athletics right now so I just mind my own business and keep my comments to myself. But I've seen BBF post some stuff that sort of rubbed me some kind of way.

If you ever need some info about bama, you know where to look.
Also, the big xii does not have a lucrative tv contract. That is news to me as well. I thought over $20 million per school was pretty solid
It is, particularly from where we sit. That said, the reason they are expanding is because the B1G and the SEC are running off and leaving them in the contract dollar department.
Arkansas State now? But no UAB...

Ark St. is the only school remotely viable candidate in Arkansas.
