So honest question. How does this work for him? He didn't make the grade so he won't play this season. Will he practice with the team? Is he on scholarship? If so is it an athletic scholarship counting towards MUs annual and total limit? I've heard people say there's no such thing as partial qualifiers but this article uses the term

Thanks
Oh well, just like a RS year and then we'll have him for 4 years. We have Durant ready to go this year after sitting out last year. He's ready to man the middle.

He is enrolled at Marshall. He can not work out with the team, but he does have access to the strength and conditioning staff. He is not on scholarship and doesn't count against any total (initial or overall 85). If he obtains the necessary grades, he can go on scholarship for next season with his first team workouts occurring during next summer once the Spring semester grades come out.

Really kind of a non-event, don't know what kind of show you're expecting. He was a long shot all along, but grade he showed up and enrolled. #3 rated inside LB in the recruiting class.

He will sit out. Many in this situation go to JUCO route but apparently he's going t stay. Once/IF he makes grades then he gets to be a football player. Until then he's just a student like everyone else.

The Blues Brothers just vommited.

F UCF.
Well I was hoping he would qualify. Doesn't appear grades were the issue, his SAT/ACT scores weren't high enough for NCAA sports standards and that happens to many kids unfortunately. Doc will not take kids who can't make the grade but have issue with SAT/ACT, that's the difference between him and Snyder and why we see Doc's partial qualifiers actually find the field mostly vs. what Snyder would go out on a limb for and never see the field. Snyder would take kids that barely make the grades for admission, lower probability of them ever seeing the field. Probably count on one hand how many Snyder recruits that were partial that made the field the next season.
Wonder who is picking up the tab for tuition this year? Do you guys have a secret slush fund like UVA to pay for these kids not on "scholarship"?

The difference is that we can distinguish Flyhawk98 from the rest of the Marshall fan base.

You guys instead seem to favor the "herd" mentality.

What exactly is the "herd" mentality?? A good lot of us are pulling for ODU to prosper and grow. All the AAC junk has us at each other's throats and honestly it needs to stop. Every school in this conference can make some kind of claim to some form of worthy merit, its not like the AAC commissioner is watching this board or reading the Pilot to figure out who he wants as replacements when the time comes.

Now as far as Yulee is concerned or any other partial qualifier, they are responsible for paying their own way until they qualify. I am sure they are helping get these kids assistance from grants etc until they qualify, and that's not any different than a average college student gets assistance.

It was a lame attempt at a pun on your team's nickname. My apologies if it didn't work.

I have no problem with Marshal fans. I've quite enjoyed having you guys at our tailgates. Probably the best fans I've seen come to ODU.

These kids have to pay their own way or get financial aid like most students. Many bigger schools convince kids to go the juco route to get their grades and re-recruit them - which is a joke - just using the kid.
At least in Yulee's case he is on campus and working towards a degree before he ever steps on the field.

I see that Kruciff's "SOMEBODY MENTIONED MARSHALL" alert went off.

It states in the article that he was not able to make his test score and will sit out the season as a partial qualifier.

How does the partial qualifier work? I get that the student can be enrolled into a university even though he didn't make the qualifying test scores? But what happens if he cant make the scores the next time he takes them? Is there a limit to attempts? What I'm trying to ask is, how long does the partial qualifier tag apply to a student, as my assumption is that he is not fully admitted to the school and thus wouldn't be able to graduate without the test scores.
