How the conferences stack up.

Myerberg Sentinel Average
AAC 67.17 70.17 68.67
MWC 71.92 78.92 75.42
CUSA 78.69 86.15 82.42
MAC 86.75 78.25 82.50
Belt 90.45 90.18 90.32

Biggest variances:

CUSA - the two previews ranked 7 CUSA teams (ODU, FAU, Charlotte, UTSA, UNT, Middle and UTEP) within less than 10 spots of each other, which I would consider consensus. Myerberg ranked 5 of the remaining six at least 10 spots higher and only WKU lower by more than 10. The biggest outlier was Rice, which Myerberg has 44 spots higher, the largest divergence from the OS of any G5 school. Two other schools, La Tech and Marshall, are ranked at least 20 spots higher by Myerberg.

MAC - The two previews have hardly no consensus on the MAC. Only one school, NIU, is ranked similarly by both. Myerberg ranks 8 MAC schools at least 10 spots lower than the OS, the biggest difference is Central Michigan, which Myerberg has 44 spots lower than the OS. That's the largest negative gap between the two among G5 schools. MAC had no positive variations of more than 18 spots.

AAC - the leader in both previews. Houston not ranked by the OS yet, but they will be within 10 spots of Myerberg's #16 ranking. Myerberg sees the upper middle portion of the conference as stronger, but the lower middle as weaker (Memphis and Navy +24 average, ECU and UCF -17 average).

MWC - some interesting differences here. The OS had San Diego St. at 49, Myerberg has them at #13 and the highest rated G5. That 36 spot difference is second only to Rice in upward variation by Myerberg. He also has Boise at #19, giving the MWC 2 top 20 teams. Overall, there is little consensus between the two previews, with Myerberg seeing 7 teams at least 10 spots better and only 3 at least 10 spots worse. Myerberg is not nearly as optimistic about Fresno, ranking them 32 spots below the OS.

Belt - the consensus is they are the bottom. Seven of the 11 teams are ranked within 10 spots on both previews. On the negative side Myerberg has a much more dim view of the two Georgia schools with State being ranked 20 spots lower and Southern 21 lower. On the flip side he likes ULL and Ark St much more, 14 and 13 higher respectively.

Overall takeaway. Fairly obvious that the OS and Myerberg have opposing views on CUSA and the MAC. Also, Myerberg has a lot more respect for the G5 in general. He ranks 14 in the top 50, 3 in the top 25 while the OS ranks 9 in the top 50 and only Houston in the top 25. Overall, Myerberg ranks all G5 teams at a 79.00 average while the OS has it at 80.73. So basically, Myerberg sees the average G5 team as 2 spots better than the OS.

Interesting. Thanks for doing the legwork.
I tend to be a numbers guy, so I do it for my own curiosity. Just figured I'd share it since it was done.
Great job, Banker. I bow to the King.

If being the King is access to Excel and spare time, then yes, I am the King.
