Here's the Depth Chart from the Enquirer article today. One question I have always had - why don't they use a backup QB (even 3rd string) or a former high school QB to hold for extra points and field goals? If the ball is mishandled, I would trust one of these guys to know what to do with the ball (run or throw) than the punter. Didn't Zach Collaros make a great play after a bad/mishandled snap at Syracuse? I feel like it was Kazeem Alli that caught a TD...but could be wrong on that one.

Marquis Copeland is at DT? How big has he gotten?

I'm still surprised Alex Thomas is not a starting corner. I thought last year he was more impressive than any of the other CB's.
Good info. Most interesting to me is that WR group.
Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I've never seen 2 cornerbacks more consistently out of position and more frequently burned than Coleman and Stephens.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong though. I just recall thinking game after game, how hard these guys were struggling.

Well you're not the only one who thought that. I thought the starting CB play last year was terrible.

I am not so sure it matters who will get the start. This staff likes to play a lot of guys in the secondary so the minutes will get split pretty evenly over the two deep.

I agree. Alex Thomas has all the tools. The Copeland move has been planned since winter. Idk
How is Tshumbi not in the starting lineup?
Nice seeing some juniors in seniors in the 2 deep on defense this year.

That's crazy. He even looked small for a DE in fall camp last year.

I hope you're right. Thomas was clearly the best looking CB last year in game situations IMO. Coleman just looks slow to me for a CB and I have no clue what Stephens issues were, but he definitely struggled.

I think I remember seeing a quote from one of the coaches that alluded to the fact that he has good skills, but needs to put it together before he'll be counted on in a primary role. So this is probably applying the "Kiel" method to the WR position.
Carter Jacobs has shown flashes of real talent, this should be the year he puts it together. I had the privilege of meeting his dad last year. What a great character he is. Just an explosive and positive personality.

Yep. That nightmare of a defense basically boiled down to this and zero push at the line, much less something resembling a pass rush.
I am worried about the lack of experience at tackle with as much as our QBs get smacked around.

Two way street. Need to get rid of the ball quicker as well.

I hope so, he seems like a guy that gets massive yards after catch. AS long as he gets some burn, I can understand Cole, Gray, and Khalil.
I'd be curious to compare last year's initial depth chart to the depth chart on opening day. My guess is there's some motivation that goes into this initial version. I wouldn't be surprised to see several changes over the course of this month.

Grant Coleman still hasn't turned his head and tracked a ball in his college career...I see Thomas taking one of those spots rather soon.

I have never understood the rationale behind starting Coleman. The other corner has speed and can tackle a little bit.
