Didn't read duh'local article but, New Rival huh? Everyone wants to jump on our ship.
Toledo is the measurement.

Everybody plays their "A Game" versus the Rockets.....
Western is not a rival. They have won exactly one MAC football title (a tie) in their long history in the league. We don't have a football rival unless they win. When Fleck leaves after this season they will revert to being a doormat.
Obviously BG is Toledos biggest rivalry and that will never change, clearly NIU is divisions biggest rival for obvious reasons. If you look over the past 35 years Central would be considered UTs biggest West rival. Western doesn't register.
You guys are right popular as rivals. Is there anyone you AREN'T a rival of?

Touche'. 04-cheers
To be a rivalry each of the teams needs to win now and then. Thus, Toledo v NIU is not a rivalry since NIU always wins. Similarly, Toledo v BGSU can no longer be a rivalry since Toledo always wins.

I think the BGSU rivalry will be done within the next 10 years.

Quicker, if winning becomes a crime against the State.

Just because we switch conferences and BG goes FCS doesn't mean we won't play the Falcons.

Then you're predicting the end of the MAC within the next 10 years, which is not the craziest of thoughts. Though I think a likelier scenario would be a new FBS/DI with just the power conferences, then a reshaped FCS/1AA, with some of the lower-budget teams already in FCS/1AA being merged with DII or dropping scholarships and being merged with DIII. If that happens, then I can see the MAC staying together in FCS/1AA and the UT/BG rivalry living on as long as neither athletic department drops a bunch of sports or goes non-scholarship.
