Because the liberals have ruined America, and the rest of us resent it.
Ah, the liberal "bogeyman."

Big government did, especially gubment workers who then try to rationalize their parasite existence by identifying with a fictional John Galt.

Sorry.
The movie made the Hillbillies seem more palitable. The actual fan base more closely resembled a cross between Hoosiers and Deliverence.

I know!! I was begrudgingly like, ok, let's finally watch this movie. Then my old man girl hormones just went crazy!!

Now that I'm 36, movies make me almost-cry all of the sudden. WTF???
I have that problem with several movies.

Gump
Gone with the wind
Private Ryan
Field of Dreams
ET
H
Old Yeller

"Best doggone dog in the land"...

Sorry.

Who then do I turn to for conservative inspiration? Newt? Pence? Carson? Rubio? Oh, that's right they're all fictional too.

One of the things I found disingenuous about the movie was how they tried to make Marshall Football seem like it had been a proud Huntington tradition before the crash.

The previous stadium, which was little more than a HS facility, had been condemned due to neglect.

Attendance was somewhere between what Eastern's and Kent State's are now.

Perry Moss was HC for less than a year, went 0-9-1, got Marshall on NCAA probation and kicked out of the MAC for committing over 40 violations.

In 15 years in the MAC they had three winning seasons (7-3 was the best), finished second once.

Their big season-opening rivalry game was Morehead State. They also played the Quantico Marines a couple times (1-1).

Yes, well - the actress probably was not from West Virginia much less Huntington.

Because Darnell sank the ship after 2000, and more pain was about that. :)

But with that said, I shed no tear for "We Are Marshall". I hate that slogan, I hate them. Thinking about the '99 MACC game where we had the lead and they came roaring back, we scored a TD to take the lead again and they won it -- that chokes me up.

God, I want us to play them in a bowl this year to make up for 99 & 00. And to be able to say "We Beat Marshall".

Gads! 03-puke

That '99 game was the biggest choke-job in Bronco football history (yes, worse than even 2000 at CMU, which was also courtesy of Gary Darnell)! Darnell should have been terminated after the 2000 season. It was obvious he had his foot out-the-door anyway and he was never going to get WMU "over-the-hump" to win a championship.

I agree, if you can't win a championship by the end of your 4th year, it's time to go.
I believe that the biggest problem with our society right now is that we have been forced to pick teams and then do everything in our power to crush the other side.

Whether you are Republican or Democrat. It really doesn't matter what you believe, its all about destroying the other "team".
Whether you are Pro Life or Pro Choice. its all about crushing the other "teams" opinion.
Whether you are on the side of Black Lives Matter or the supporting police. (which really shouldn't be opposed to one another) its all about picking your team and crushing the other.
Whether you are pro gun or anti gun. The other sides opinions and thoughts simply don't hold water or merit.
Whether you are Christian, Muslim, Athiest or whatever else you choose to believe in. Its all about discrediting and tearing down other peoples religious beliefs.

Its a sad sad situation. It is totally opposite of what our country was founded on.

I will proudly state that I am White, Christian Man. So I'm certain that my thoughts and views on many of these social issues are scewed because of how and where I was raised. There are so many things that I am certain that I don't understand, so I choose to simply not enter the fray because what good will it do? I cannot claim to understand the feelings of a black man from the inner city. But I can also see when I think some of the things that many are doing is absolutely ridiculous. It is also apparent to me that there are probably just as many idiot white people that get shot by police officers when they put those officers in danger. But we don't hear about that from the mainstream media or the Rev Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
While issues like transgender, gay rights, abortion, and other things take up so much time and energy from people, I personally choose to not enter that fray. With the first 2, I would say that I simply don't understand them. With all of them, I would say that its very simply something that I haven't had to deal with, so why take the time to get all worked up about it. To my fellow Christians who spend too much time condemning people that they don't agree with, I would remind that we are also without sin and blame. I know that I am not perfect or even close to it, so what gives me the right to condemn others?

My wish is that we could find "leaders" in our country who cared more about doing what right and best as opposed to what will simply get them elected and/or crush the other "team". I wish that we as a society could simply learn to understand one another and work together to make things better for everyone. And I wish that we would get back to the beliefs that this country was founded on and get back to making a future that is better for our children than it was for us and our parents. Right now, I don't believe that is even close to the case.

Now off of my soap box, this is something that has been stirring inside me for a while and this was a good thread to vent in. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
