Recorded the Summer League game last night between the Sacramento Kings and the Toronto Raptors, and watched this morning. It was a complete rout. I think Toronto was playing players who are already on their roster and who have played in the league before. They completely outclassed Sacramento.

The one thing I noticed was how they moved the ball and found shooters, while Sacramento was pitiful in their ball movement for the most part.

Josh got some good minutes playing the point for the Kings, and I thought he did an admirable job. But once he passed the ball, and he made some good passes, he never got it back in most cases. The Sacramento players would get the ball, and in most cases try to force a shot when they didn't have one rather than kick the ball back out.

But Josh looked comfortable, and did some nice things. He had one field goal, I think it was a three pointer, and made his only free throw attempt. I would assume the Kings will be better the next game. They couldn't have been much worse. They came close to tying the record for the fewest points scored in a Summer League game.

The Raptors had some really good players who could shoot the ball.
The Kings had a number of players who shot the ball, they just couldn't make them.

Josh handled the ball a lot, and made a few outstanding passes while driving to the basket. However, I don't recall the players receiving the passes making their shots. So to wrap up my analysis, Josh did fine, but not anywhere to what he's capable of. He had no help. I'm looking forward to seeing how much the team improves by the next game. I'm hoping Josh can make the roster.04-cheers

47 total points in a 48 minute NBA game. How is that even possible?
There was no ball movement. Someone would get the ball in the paint with three big guys guarding them, and try to force an off balance shot which seldom if ever went in. Toronto played five guys who are already on their roster, and I think all have played at least one season already in the NBA.

Sacramento seemed to have guys who were trying to make their roster. There was no continuity to their offense. Josh made several nice drives where he found an open man, but the guys couldn't make the shots. It looked like a pro team playing a team from the SWAC. I was disappointed that Josh didn't get more looks at the basket. He was open at times but they wouldn't throw him the ball. Some serious coaching is needed for that team.
It's Summer League, Josh better go get some shots for himself!!

+ 1
I'm sure he will when he gets the chance.
His next game is today @ 5:30 on espn3
Thank you. I was hoping it was on the NBA network where I could record it and watch later. But I'll just have to make it work.
Josh plays Monday night at 9 pm on espn2 so you should be able to record Monday's game

Can anyone give a report on how he and the team did tonight. I only got to watch a few minutes of the game. He was playing the point, but he didn't do anything but pass the ball and play defense in those few minutes.

Played 12 minutes
Field goals 1 for 2
2 rebounds
1 assist

Not a good outing.......
Well 50% from the field isn't bad. I'd better set my recorder for tonight. His stats aren't amazing, but from what little I've seen of him, he's handled the point well, distributed it to other guys. Buy he's up against some stiff competition.
I don't know where he'll end up, but he's getting a chance to be seen by other teams, and with a little luck, might just catch on with someone.
