"Bruno plans to sit down with Wickstrom and begin more "formal" discussions next week. He said the two parties haven’t decided whether Wickstrom would return under contract or as an at-will employee like his predecessor Bobby Staub (Wickstrom's contract is set to expire June 30th)...Working with the smallest athletic budget of any FBS school, Wickstrom spearheaded a fundraising effort that resulted in an 11,750-square foot end zone facility that is set to open in July...Wickstrom applied for the vacant athletic director position at the University of Akron last August but removed himself from consideration. His name also surfaced for the same job at Tulane last November."
Yeah, dude wants out and can't get another gig.

Staub managed a gig at FIU. I guess there is life after ULM.

ULM's President has tried to run Wickstrom out multiple times before. Basically, the way I understand it is that he wants Wickstrom to be at Will, meaning he can fire him without a buyout at any time...rather than a Contract employee that can only be let go without penalty at the end of his contract.

And Wick is going to have to take it because he can't get another job.

What? Id be amazed if you were able to present just one shred of facts to back up that statement.

He'll likely find another job, he's a good AD who gets looked down upon because he works at ULM honestly.
yeah I'm gonna have to disagree Wickstrom has certainly done WAY more with less and if Bruno were that stupid to run him off that would be a big loss for ULM

I thought the two failed attempts at similar (but not as bad) G5 jobs and coming up short was indicative of my statement that Wick can't find another job.

Looks like a compromise was reached. He will continue job hunting and know he's got a year left to get paid.

IMO, Wickstrom was a godsend for ULM.

He's injected life into the department, gotten some things done, appears to have made good hires.

The one piece of egg on his face really wasn't his fault and that was the fiasco with originally giving Bruce Peddie a one year contract. That was on Bruno, who, in my opinion, couldn't care less if athletics succeeds or fails despite his lip service.

Yep. Making all kinds of sense too.

What happened to the President that was there previously? I can't remember his name. I think he hired Staub if I recall.
