Looking at ~ $200,000 per school, and probably regulated to ASN for every football game.

The money is bad. We knew that was going to happen. Us living on ASN is not really a shock. The most distressing bit of news is lack of stuff on ESPN3 to start. I felt like that was the biggest part of the new media deal. The more content CUSA can get on ESPN3 the better.

We also haven't heard if ASN will be streaming their games this year. If not..... 03-puke
This is lame. I made a outdoor projection screen. I need to be able to stream the games on espn3 so we can backyard tailgate for the games on the other side of the continent.
This is going to be the new normal, not just for C-USA, but for most of the G5 schools. Cable subscriptions are down, so the money that was there in the past will be less going forward. As the other G5 conferences negotiate TV deals, their $ per school will drop by similar proportions. The Sun Belt's TV revenue could practically vanish.
We either need to move away from this crap or put up with it for a while and strive to make it better but i personally am impatient and i say we should move to AAC when and if we get a chance.

I am certain (from every source I have with NO exceptions) that if they come calling we will make the move. The "if" issue is the only problem.
man this stinks. I'd rather have monarch media than ASN.
I hope ODU fights to keep its digital rights. For me, Monarch Media was always a solid option.
I didn't see much about ESPN3. I'm not shocked that we won't appear on ESPN or ESPN2. But does this also mean that we won't be on ESPN3 either?

In that case, cancel the TV Contract and give us Monarch Media, so at least the current fans can watch the games.

it said 10 games will be on espn3. we don't know which ones yet. based on the rest of the article and ODU's exposure thus far, I suspect we'll be on once or not at all. so much for this great media market we have going for us.
It sounds like CUSA is making every school upgrade their production budget so they can stream every game for free, and they will have ESPN3 broadcast those games. I am interpreting that as we will be able to watch our games at least from CUSA if not ESPN3. I just don't know how long it takes to make the upgrades. It also sounds like this will only be available for conference games, not away OOC games.
2 ways to get on ESPN. Play a bowl game or play for conference championship. We need to accomplish something on the field before ESPN will give a ShLLt about broadcasting us.

From Harry's article:

"As expected, the league is ramping up its streaming of sports events, embarking on an ambitious proposal to modernize its streaming services.

Every school will upgrade its in-house telecasts of games, which are streamed for a fee on school Web sites. C-USA will take over the broadcast from the individual schools and make all games available for a fee.

The goal is to make those broadcasts match the quality on ESPN, and then have them distributed on several streaming services, including ESPN3."

So it sounds like C-USA will be making another streaming service that will incorporate all the schools feeds into one. I'm not sure how this is different than what we were doing with CBS properties before, maybe it has something to do with CampusInsiders? Will it stream all games or just ones not featured on ESPN/CBSSN/BeIN/ASN? If the latter then I'm not sure how much more they can fracture the fanbase in terms of the number of media outlets, but I'm also not sure how you can stream all games unless we kept digital streaming rights.
One thing seems almost certain and that is we should not turn out noses up at get paid to play game at a P5 school.

mattsarz last week reported that Conference USA registered a domain name with a name similar to the format campus insiders usually uses.
I'm sorry, I must be getting forgetful in my advanced years. Can someone please remind me exactly why we came to this conference? Oh that's right, it was all the dough we were gonna make, Right? And oh yeah, playing East Carolina in-conference, Right? And of course "not being a mid major in basketball anymore. Right? The truth is, this seems to be an unmitigated disaster. No natural rivals anymore, and please don't tell me about having to leave because VCU left...Hell we are playing them yearly now. We could have done the same thing in the CAA. If and that's a huuuuuuge if, we move to the AAC then the move was worth it. If not, frankly someone needs to be fired.
So only 3 ODU conference games on TV it appears. And those 3 on ASN. This is ****.

this just keeps getting worse and worse. I don't even count being on ASN as being on TV.

It was about FBS football, plain and simple. It wasn't about playing ECU or mid major basketball. When you have the chance to jump to FBS football (and that is a goal), you do it no matter what the level of conference is.
