I like it! Nice old school feel.

Only i would start Smallwood over Tosin.
I wouldn't. That said TS has a ton of upside.
This team is deep, but I would say 2005-2006, Mike Anderson's last UAB team was more experienced, and definitely 1982-1982 Elite 8 team was deeper and more experienced.

05-06 I can definitely agree with. Do you have the roster for the 82 team MB? What's so impressive about this team is the 5 seniors, 4 juniors, and two sophomores that are more experienced than you're typical 2nd year guys.

That 82 team was really good: Oliver the First Blazer, Sweet Lu Foster, Norman, Chris Giles, Craig Lane, Donnie Speer, Raymond Gause. And Murry Bartow.

Steve Mitchell's last team was really loaded too, started three four-year and two three-year starters.

When I was writing the article I began to argue that our current roster was a rare anomaly because of the one and done climate we now see. That doesn't effect UAB at all though. Eli was the last player to leave early. What I am impressed with is Haase/Ehsan's ability to maintain continuity in their rosters. Guys are staying for four years and are staying eligible. As you all know during Davis' tenure that wasn't the case. In his defense, he was able to field some darn good (but thin) rosters.
Keeping the full roster on campus during Pumpkinhead's attempt to turn everything between 16th Street and I-65 into a giant smoking crater was really impressive. These are real Blazers: it was harder to keep them from marching than to keep them from leaving.

I never thought of Eli Millsap as leaving early so much as declining to stay late: he left with his degree.

Didn't think of it that way (Eli).

Sort of off topic, but, summer team work outs start Monday for the team. Javian has been here for a while and I believe Nate gets here this week/end.

Wow. Thank you BJ.
The 89-90 team was deep and loaded too. Six guys averaged 10 ppg and they had Wilkerson and Stamp on the bench. They also started the season with Kansas. They won the regular season league title and got bounced in the Sun Belt Semis and lost in the first round to UCLA.

Huh, for whatever reason, I didn't know Murry Bartow actually played at UAB, too.

Don't panic when you don't see Nate next week. He will be here for the fall semester.

Soooo which is it?

Late arrival could mean less PT unless he can flat out shoot it. It's been a minute since UaB had on of those.
Smallwood is not ready to start. He needs minutes. If he earns it he will start. I'd rather bring him in off the bench right now. TS would may have made a lick of difference starting in the nit.
If Tosin didn't have the skillet hands right under the basket, he'd be something.

Maybe this is his year.
A career 5pt 4 reb 1 blk guy who has stone hands.

C'mon man.
