I believe I addressed the stone hands.

Smallwood can't see significant minutes as long as we are a man defense team. He simply lacks the foot speed & athleticism to play the pick & roll, and every decent team we play would put him in pick & roll situations every time down the court.


If we switch to more of a zone based team he can be a lot more effective.

Sort of off topic, but, summer team work outs start Monday for the team. Javian has been here for a while and I believe Nate gets here this week/end.

Don't panic when you don't see Nate next week. He will be here for the fall semester.

Late arrival could mean less PT unless he can flat out shoot it. It's been a minute since UaB had on of those.

I ran into Cokley around campus and he said everyone else gets there by the weekend. I assumed he meant Nate. Guess not. Is it common for a recruit to not come to camp before their freshman season?

Nate is a Canadian citizen and you never know what needs to be taken care of...I can tell you,having had to interact with the clearance house..the most seemingly, minor of details...cause delays...not saying this is the case here,just giving an example of one of many reasons for the delays in arriving on campus..

I thought I read an article where Nate was playing in under 18 tournament representing Canada. I think the Daily Dragon posted the story.

I figure that the coaches know where he is. Either it's legit and they are ok with it, or it is not and it will be dealt with.

Well we might need to change it up since we lost the last two games of the season to true frontcourts.

Smallwood is the size of Ben Lawson right? He gave us fits with Johnson.

Its time to give Smallwood the minutes. In a small sample Smallwood shooting percentage is better than Tosin this year. Depending how you look at it, its better than Tosin freshman season too.

With Smallwood and Norton on the court you would have two guys who could bail Chris,Dirk,and HaHa out offensively, late shot clock whatever. If Thomas average 6 point 6 rebounds and 1 block he averaged Tosin junior season.

Then again Tosin could be the next Howard Crawford.

Big Dee I totally agree with you on the transition to Smallwood. So much more upside. I hate to knock Tosin but he's a black hole offensively.

I think it's just a matter of playing to his strengths as opposed to forcing a circle into a square hole. He's clearly not a offensive powerhouse, but there was a fair amount of stuff on that end of the floor that didn't do him any favors. The spacing it set up by having him away from the post helped, but it didn't really matter much if you couldn't take advantage of the poor switch from the opposition, made a turnover, or whatever.

I'd like to see Smallwood utilized to create mismatches, but it's wholly dependent on his perimeter shooting. If he's ready, then you get that spacing except it occurs naturally on account of his shot having to be respected.

Either way, I hope both of them have improved.

I can't wait until you guys have a mental breakdown because Ehsan has started Hak & Tosin against Kansas.
