With Mark Ingram as your direct supervisor and Ray Watts above him in the chain of command?

Not a chance.

UTEP is the #1 basketball job in this conference. Just ask Tim Floyd.
The question is best coaching job, not program

I agree that UTEP is the best coaching job. UAB is a hard place to coach for football or basketball, simply due to the lack of support. In football, the city is dominated by two other schools not in the city. In basketball, there are not very many actual basketball fans, even among the fan base.

Throw in scheduling problems, funding problems and a crappy conference, the job of basketball coach at UAB is a tough one.

In terms of football, we will know more about the long term support of its program by the 2020 season. Will contributions continue to grow after the first facilities are finished and come on line? If contributions continue to grow to the needed annual income of $30 million or so, it will be on solid ground. The whole undergrad part of UAB suffers from the decade long shortage of SETF funding (the 2016-2017 SETF is still $500 million less than the 2007-2008 SETF) and does not get the huge federal and private grant incomes that keep the medical side afloat. What if they too dry up?

If the G5 conference TV income continues to shrink, its dependent programs may trend downward as well. No conference school WANTS to be the "doormat" program, but getting better means more funding, not less. By the middle of the next decade, the sports scene in America - particularly in football - may look very different than what we are now used to seeing (only a couple dozen P5 teams are operating "in the black" now).
Basketball
1. UTEP
2. WKU
3. UAB
4. ODU
Working for this administration and trustees hurts the ranking IMHO. Normally perception is reality but in this case it is reality.
