Seriously though, it amazes me that we still have schools that just completely look the other way about these things. And it's not just 1 or 2 schools, it's a litany of schools over and over including religious schools, military academies, you name it. This is so much worse than recruiting violations or academic fraud or players selling their stuff for profit. If you ask me, this is the type of thing that should result in suspension of all sports at a school for some period until they get their act together. Firing the president is a step, but it won't change anything.

Universities are run by academics, historically trained to make decisions about academics, singly focused if not almost so. Whether because they considered them "bothers" or just weren't empathic enough to see the severity, they got away with not appropriately addressing these issues because no one was looking. It's really only recently, women have been empowered to speak up or any victims of crime on campuses for that matter, been empowered to speak up. I don't necessarily agree with the tone requested by the advocate that seems to imply anyone that claims to be, is a victim but sweeping claims under the rug, certainly takes a side without evidence.

Students should be encouraged not to be afraid to report when they've been harmed and should have a clear path to that reporting and be respected for it. Students accused deserve similar due process.

My view is that universities tend to function better when lead by those with an academic background rather than the increasingly trendy move toward choosing those with a political (or "business") background. However, these days many (if not the majority) of all these upper level administrators pretend to wear both hats and often wear neither very well.
