Yeah.
Academic ratings have had some serious flaws called out against them but people are right - perception is everything.

They got a bump when the entered the Big East, too. I am sure that we will get a bump if we join the B12. Then, that membership will allow us to attract even more top students which will increase it further. Combine all of that with now having our own BoR, the money being spent on campus upgrades, and strong leadership, and I see us making significant improvements in the ratings over the next few years. B12 membership would just accelerate things.
