Marques Bolden picks Duke over Kentucky. Blue Devils already No. 1 next year. That frontline is gonna be insane.

JUST DUKE IT
With a solid six man rotation returning and five highly rated recruits, where will K find playing time for everybody?

In the NCAA Final Four?
Suck it Cal!

Quote:The Blue Devils beat out Kentucky for Bolden’s services. The commitment of the 6-foot-10, 240-pound DeSoto (Texas) senior gives Duke the No. 1 recruiting class nationally, edging out the Wildcats for that distinction, too.

Bolden said his relationship with the Duke coaching staff was the deciding factor. He joins ESPN’s No. 1 overall 2016 prospect, forward Harry Giles, the No. 3 prospect, wing Jayson Tatum, point guard Frank Jackson (No. 10), four-star forward Javin DeLaurier (No. 44) and Australian forward Jack White.

Bolden is ranked as the top center of the Class of 2016 and 15th-best overall player by the 247 composite rankings, which takes into account the rankings of all the major recruiting websites. Bolden is an elite post player who excels around the basket in all areas: shooting, rebounding and blocking shots.

Duke now has 14 scholarship players for 2016. Since they are only allowed to have 13, who is going to give up his scholarship to make room for Bolden? Should we expect one of the returning sophomores to announce he is transferring? Or will Justin Robinson become a walk-on?
The check cleared and Bolden has signed with the University of Duke!
The Admiral's son will become a walk on
Should make for an EXCITING game next year against the Blue Devils!!! Just make sure you keep Sir Trips-a-lot in check please...
FLossY Out...04-wine
Duke will be about as loaded a basketball team as I can remember.
It used to be hug news when you got a difference maker....now I shrug my shoulders and say...Duke is renting this player for a year before he goes pro.

It's a nice problem to have from Duke's perspective anyway.

A nice problem for K. For Chase Jeter, maybe not so much.

Agree. My reference to Duke was not from the player's perspective. However, players transfer all the time for different reasons so I'm not going to blame K for recruiting the best - he's paid and expected to win above all else. It's the nature of the college beast in 2016.

Please don't get me wrong. I'm not blaming K at all. He has to live within a system that's not of his choosing just like the highly rated recruits do. There are cynics who believe K ran Derryck Thornton off in order to clear a roster space for Bolden. I'm not one of them. The reality is that when K began recruiting Frank Jackson, he might have decided to withdraw his scholarship offer to Jackson out of a sense of loyalty to Thornton, only to be left empty handed if Thornton transferred anyway.

The only real difference between college basketball at this level and pro ball is that, in the college game, every player is a free agent. The college coach is like the pro GM who has to plan his roster strategy accordingly.

Just down the road in Raleigh it appeared that the entire team was leaving this spring now we have two 5 star guys and two more 4 star guys and one that was leaving came back. Actually the rosters seem more stable in the NBA and I for one miss the era when a great game coach could steer an undermanned team to a win.
