As great as Steph was in college I never imagined he'd become the best player in the league, and perhaps the most dominant athlete in any of the major professional sports right now. I thought his ceiling would be All Star caliber player who maybe one day people would mention in the same vein as Ray Allen, not Larry Bird.

I think the experts would agree with you

I felt about the same.
I was really captivated by his play in the NCAA tournament, but I didn't even think he'd make it to the same tier as Ray Allen. Never doubted his ability to contribute. I just thought he'd pretty much be on the same tier as Redick and that was before I got worried about his injuries. Then Golden State steadily started to get the team together, and they didn't cater to the kind of basketball people said they had to play if they wanted to win. And his assist to turnover ratio has to be worlds away from what it used to be.

It's amazing what happens when you can make shots. He is definitely not the most physically gifted athlete, but he operates on a higher level than anyone in the game... that takes practice, focus, and brainpower.
You see flashes of this from players in a quarter or a random game, but he's maintained for 2 seasons. Absolutely incredible.

He's not physically gifted the same way as Lebron James, but Curry is almost always the best all-around athlete on the floor.

I view Stephen Curry as having had the perfect storm of development. Had he gone to college at a school where less would have been needed from him, like at most any ACC school, Curry wouldn't have had the demand for his clutch shooting and commensurate maturation. The more his Davidson team needed him, the better he became. And almost the exact same scenario has happened at the NBA level. Curry has been able play a lot while he has matured again into his NBAbody and ability and the Warriors have fit the needed pieces onto the team.

Exactly. You and your game gets better and matures by playing alot and being put in lots of different situations. Being the 10th guy on a loaded team doesn't help nearly as much, if at all.
