I'M SO LONESOME I COULD CRY (1949) by Hank Williams ...

Lyrics

Hear that lonesome whippoorwill
He sounds too blue to fly
The midnight train is whining low
I'm so lonesome I could cry
I've never seen a night so long
When time goes crawling by
The moon just went behind the clouds
To hide its face and cry
Did you ever see a robin weep
When leaves begin to die
That means he's lost the will to live
I'm so lonesome I could cry
The silence of a falling star
Lights up a purple sky
And as I wonder where you are
I'm so lonesome I could cry

Songwriter: Hank Williams Sr.

From the world's oldest teenager a Bad ass song

"(Do The) Push and Pull (Part 1)" is a 1970 single on Stax Records by singer Rufus Thomas. The song was written by Thomas, and the recording was arranged by Carl Hampton, and produced by Al Bell and Tom Nixon.

This was the first and only number-one song for Thomas, who had first hit the R&B chart in 1953. The song was at the top of the Billboard Best Selling Soul Singles chart for two weeks in February 1971. The single also reached the Top 30 on the pop chart, peaking at number 25

(Do The) Push and Pull (Part 1) - Rufus Thomas, Stax Records

Lyrics
Hey, everybody, Mister Rufus in town
Came here to take care of business
Ain't gonna mess around
I got a brand new dance, that ain't no bull
Everybody's doing it talking 'bout push and pull
I said, push, pull, push, pull
Get on up, get on down
Get on up
Take it round and round
I said, push, pull, push, pull
Little bit more
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Lookie here
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Get out on the floor, you're gonna get left
Get on your own, pretty baby, now go for yourself
It's easier taking candy from a baby, don't hand me no bull
Now you got it, baby you got that push and pull
I said, push, pull
Push, pull
Listen get on up, get on down
Get on up
Take it round and round
I said, push, pull, push, pull
Listen
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Double upon
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Push it, pull it
Ah
Oh, Mister Clean and James Brown
Everybody been messing around
I'm doing a hundred and laying on full
I got this thing talking 'bout push and pull
I said, push, pull
Push, pull, oh, ho
Push and pull, oh, ho

Somehow I don't think that this is the same James Rd. that you're thinking about?

It may very well not, but I remembered reading that somewhere a very long time ago. I agree it’s suspect. Took me a minute, but I’m pretty sure this is where I read it. Fifth or sixth paragraph in the first review.

“Alluding to the band's roots "3744 James Road" was the place in Memphis they stayed in during part of their US tour and had grown very fond of. The track features some amazing playing from Tony and remains a live favourite.“

Hey ........... seems like I owe you an apology somewhat. After looking at the map & tapping on the satellite overhead view that you can zoom down over the house.

It occurred to me that I've actually been down to that address & the house in question. I drove Uber/Lyft for about 3 years & picked up or delivered someone to that house.

It was converted to some kind of Day School for poor underprivileged kids from that area. They had all kinds of hands on mostly art projects for the kids to take part in.
They cooked & fed the kids healthy meals on site.

What struck me was the house looked somewhat like a old Southern Antebellum 2-Story Mansion with a multi-columned porch.

It backs up to the Lake Windemere area which back in the day had very nice houses on large lots some of which were on the lake.

Puhleeze, no apology necessary. I didn’t buy it 100% when I read it. There were a number of houses like that in the area when I was growing up. Probably from the Raliegh Springs era (not the mall). At some point, the owners sold off the land and developers built neighborhoods around many of them. As kids would do back then, we explored the area and stumbled across some really cool stuff. The Raliegh Cemetery is actually a bit older than Elmwood and some people have cleaned it up in the last decade (so I read). We thought it was haunted so we didn’t stop by too much.
i have on cassette the groundhogs fm100 live in the studio broadcast they did
