Not that surprising. With 5 front court players (six if you count Vasser), somebody wasn't going to get minutes.

It was known during the season that the coaches didn't care for him or his off court work ethic/attitude.

I was wondering if this was the issue. every now and then someone would post about seeing practice (or knew someone that did) and never did I hear any great endorsements of him.

Why do we keep taking these guys that won't work? Bad evaluations?

Story I heard is he and his parents came to us, asking for a chance to come home. Coaches told him his reputation was he wasn't a worker and had attitude issues. We said we'd give a year to show differently. Of course, that's just one side of the story.

Opens up another spot for the Martin twins and/or a grad transfer or two.

Not for nothing but it is telling to me that the school made the announcement.

Was told months ago on good source he would never see the court, which surprised me at the time. So can't say I'm surprised by this. Too bad it didn't work out.

How come no one on these boards calls these things out when they hear about them? Are you really protecting your fake message board names? Makes no sense to me.

Well, sometimes you are told something in confidence by someone who is "in-the-know" and if you go out and spill the beans on the message board under your "Fake Board Name" your goose is cooked. The person who told you can immediately identify you (and your fake name) because they see the SUPER TOP SECRET info posted and know who they gave the info to. So being a super top secret, counter agent can be tricky or so I have been told.

I suppose you are right. If there was only one person told by someone on the coaching staff that Colbert wasn't going to work out then I get it (highly unlikely). If someone heard that rumor at a big blue breakfast then spill the beans! I used to hear all kinds of good rumors that turned out to be true at the breakfasts and the BBQ.

Not sure why some people are so proud of their super secret intel. Hard to pat you on your back if no one knows who you are. Oh well, the social media era strikes again.

The article said he left for "personal reasons". If he transfers to another division 1 school, wouldn't he have to sit out another year? Seems like an awful waste to me. I was really exited when he came into the program.

I know I was told something in a conversation with a coach, who then said, "That's not something I would want to see out on a message board somewhere," so I elected to keep my scoop to myself, as hard as it was.

I have no idea what his personal reasons are. I do know that final grades are now being handed out. It could be possible that academics played a role in this.
