lost both games today
14-30 for the year now.
Looks like we are trying mighty hard to replace our top 3 coaches in one year. If they couldn't make the postseason last year, there is no hope.
It's like the end of the movie Poltergeist where the daughter runs up screaming "What's Happening?"
14-30 (5-9, T7/8 American) is a pretty stark record compared to last year's team that had a higher RPI than multiple NCAA at-large teams.
Rock is a good guy but the time has come for him to move on! Been here too long and has been 12 years since we have been to the NCAA tournament. REPLACE Rock NOW!!

Prior to this season, Schoenrock had 5 consecutive 30-win seasons (first time in Memphis history) - a notable accomplishment considering that it was done in two very respectable baseball conferences (C-USA & the AAC). Anybody who thinks his job is anywhere being in jeopardy is naive. It was predictable that this season would be bumpy, especially while our young pitchers are developing.

Baseball is a funny game in some ways. We had 9 hits in the first game and scored 1 run. Had 9 hits again in the second game and scored 9 runs. I am proud of our team - they fight hard every inning and still have their chins up. It would be a mistake for our opponents to take them lightly. Cincinnati, who is at or near the top of the conference, beat us at home by 1-0 after throwing a running out at the plate and lost to us in game 3.

Ain't going to happen for several reasons:

(1) In the opinion of many, he is a very fine college baseball coach. The past 5 consecutive 30-win seasons cannot simply be dismissed - rebuilding years happen at most programs. We don't exactly have a stellar record for making in the NCAA tournament anyway (only 5 times since it started in 1947 for an average of once in every 13.6 years), and Rock's teams were in the toughest conferences. The AAC was ranked the 3rd-best baseball conference last season in at least one poll.

(2) Schoenrock's teams have outstanding records for academic performance and he is the kind of man most parents want their son to be influenced by.

(3) Our baseball attendance definitely is NOT affected by win record, nor has the general public in Memphis ever cared much.

(4) Replacing Schoenrock would set our program back for at least 3 years. He has established solid recruiting relationships with high school and community college coaches throughout our region which cannot be re-established overnight. We are only going to lose 3 seniors that get playing time - next year's team should be pretty good.

Supporting our baseball program by attendance and donation will do far more for improvement than publicly calling for a firing which isn't about to happen.

even lost our deposit for the friday night game too
We won Sunday game 3-2 in the 7th inning (shortened due to lightning in the area). The conference looks to be unusually balanced this year. If our young pitching continues to mature, anything is possible in the tournament.

GA, why isnt Chafin getting more time at C? He seems to be good defensively and while his batting avg isnt great, DeMatteo is batting an anemic .100. I think Chafin could easily be in the high 200s with more regular batting. Is DeMatteo really that much better defensively?
How's Rock doing recruiting this year

DeMatteo is more reliable behind the plate, and that is critically important, of course. Chafin does play about a third as much and both catchers are improving their deficiencies - we need them both.

I honestly don't know, but I seriously doubt that there is anyone who can do better.

Here is our current roster for those who might be interested: http://gotigersgo.com/roster.aspx?path=baseball

I have no idea if the baseball coach is competent or not, but, this is the kind of loser mentality that got us years of bad football.
I agree with the no idea part.
