Former WKU basketball player, George Fant, getting a lot of looks from NFL teams. He is up to 296 lbs and is cut. He virtually matched JJ Watts ridiculous combine numbers at the recent Pro day. Will be interesting...

"The former power forward from Warren Central High School and WKU weighed in at 296 pounds – up 46 pounds from his final listing as a basketball senior – while standing at 6 feet and 4 7/8 inches. He jumped a 37-inch vertical, leapt nine feet and 11 inches in the broad jump test, then ran 40 yards in 4.8 seconds, according to Marshall."

good luck to him, but didn't he do virtually nothing at TE for WKU this year?

He played special teams mainly, but he had not played football in a long time , so it's going to take a little time. It's the raw possibly that he offers which is attractive to teams.

That would be my guess as well. I think he'll make it onto a practice squad somewhere and complete his football re-orientation per se.
He played behind 3 sr. tight ends. Originally, iirc, he decided to play because 1 of them (Gorski) had torn his Achilles in the spring and another (Scott) had decided not to play his last yr. They both came back, which left him 4th on the depth chart. He will get an opportunity because of his measurables. It'll be up to him to show teams skill to play at that level.

An inch shorter than Gronk and ~30 pounds heavier? I guess at the size 30 pounds isn't a ton, just sounds a bit heavy to be playing TE.
He may play OL, DL or TE. I think he is a natural DE at 296 lbs.

If he was 4th best on your team then the 3 TE ahead of him must be drafted as well. Has any program ever had 4 TEs drafted in the same year?

Didn't WKU have a really good TE that was #82. I forget his name, but that guy is good.

By your response I assume that WKU had 4 TEs drafted to the NBA COGS

Tyler Higbee yes was a really sought after prospect until his arrest a couple of weeks ago....Had a chance to go as high as 2nd round, now with these charges looming over him not sure he even gets drafted...

I sense the sarcasm meter at 10, but I'll bite. Kind of hard for a 4 yr. basketball stud to come righting and beat out 3 5th yr. tight ends. No one said the other 3 will all be drafted.
I'm just a bit skeptical about a guy being drafted based on raw physical tangibles alone. If I had a list of precedents, maybe I'd think differently. Too lazy to do the research myself right now.
udfa for sure.
I don't know of anyone who says he will for sure get drafted. That being said, interest is there from some teams. That will likely get him an opportunity. Isn't that all anyone could ask for?

I agree. With his size / intelligence and athletic ability , he could turn out to be a monster for somebody. I've seen recently photos of him and he is scary looking lol
Fant and Justin Johnson was together at the spring game today...

Fant makes Justin Johnson look like a tiny little boy

I was standing on the rail in the end zone today and saw Justin come by. To be honest many of those guys made Justin look flat out skinny. And he's nowhere near skinny.

Fant looks bigger than Jontavious. His chest and shoulders are enormous now. He's always been thick. He was a thick kid at Warren Central. But he was pretty much bigger than anyone in that end zone today. He's definitely worth giving a shot by some team. They don't have to spend a draft pick on him but he'll get some looks.
