Embarrassing.
Vote for banning off-campus camps, vote against this? Crazy town.
So are we playing Russian Roulette with our feet or just going ahead and blowing them off?

I can somewhat understand the vote against camps. I can't understand this when every conference is on the other side. You basically just hung yourself out to dry.
One thing is for certain. We need to hold regular meetings with all ADs prior to voting. Arkstfan is right here, the lack of continuity shown over the last two weeks is troubling. Whether we all agree or not, in the public eye we should.
This is why people think the Sun Belt is small time. This is why people think a majority of the Sun Belt members are still in the FCS. This is why we struggle doing away with the negative stigma that surrounds the name, "The Sun Belt Conference".

When the schools (or whoever, for that matter) voted against this, they showed their true colors by saying that keeping extra money in their pockets is more important than the student-athletes and helping them to find a new place to call home. If you were a parent of one of these kids that was being recruited, how would you feel if the school contacted you and told you that you were on your own and that your child was covered? Would you not feel a little bit unwelcome? Would you not say to your child, "Hey, there are other great schools out there that won't take the short cut to getting you to play for them."

I just think this was a poor decision altogether. Not only did we vote against paid trips for parents, but we were the ONLY conference to do so. That's just a shame if I've ever see one.
The actual issue isn't a big deal.
It's a nice thing for parents to be present maybe head off some of them goobers who commit every single official visit. Maybe see past the presentation and show to ask serious questions a sensory overloaded 17 year old wouldn't think about.

The big deal is being the only ones to say no.
Lets just kick Texas State out of the league. That will solve this problem at least...

Great idea one step closer to our ideal bus league.
Enough schools have to decide that the conference has to stop being penny ante. So far they haven't.

Do we know a majority of schools were against this? Everything that we have learned after the Satellite Camp vote points to it not being voted on by the schools, but rather a vote by either the league office or conference rep. Could that be the case here again?
The Sun Belt objected, but it still passed. Is that what I read? Seems like we have to do this in order to recruit if all the other conferences are going to do it. Fans and supporters will just have to pony up.

Either way...penny ante comes to mind.
Why would we vote against this? I can understand if it made it mandatory but this just allows the school to pay for these cost.
I think the TxSt AD showed up drunk to the vote and switched the ballots by mistake. Only explanation for this. 03-drunk 03-puke

Maybe he just can't read a room. 03-lmfao
I've not seen any solid evidence that the thoughts of the membership ever factored in how we voted on any of the issues before the council.

So, one person voted without any input from their constituents? Wow. What a time to be alive.
Don't be surprised if many parents just read about this and decided no way would they want their kid to play for an SBC school because if they don't want mom and dad present, there must be a very good reason why (see: tons of scandalous party and prostitution stories available on the Internets).

Of course, on the flip-side, it could work in favor of those recruits who don't care what mom and dad think - go visit an SBC school and GO PAR-TAY DOOD!!!

Of course, I'm SURE the individual(s) involved in this vote THOUROUGHLY that all of this out.

Kind of reminds me of how our 2-party cartels' unpledged/super delegate "system" works.
