What do you guys think?

Please do NOT use that cheesy Rocky logo to represent our University. It's almost as bad as that blow up doll we used to use.

Okay, can't help it...my first impression of the renderings...underwhelming.

And please for the love of God do NOT use that cheesy Rocky logo to represent our University. It's almost as bad as that blow up doll we used to use.

Looks better but, no new GB lights, no training table and all of those stupid steel posts are still in the way under the east stands. Yea, underwhelming. And the Rocky logo is terrible. Dump it.

And where are the TVs?? How can you have a multi-million dollar renovation this day in age and not include flat screen TV's for your fans in the concourse?

I have to believe the "Rocky logo" was just for rendering purposes, not what is going to be actual artwork. If you look at all the other pictures, there is no consistency in the logos used. . Looks like every "Toledo logo" used over the last 20 years was shown in these depictions in one way or another. I pray am not wrong! If so, who ever is responsible for this marketing must have received his/her degree from BG.

The training table is the Grogan Room renovation. That's why the expansion of the Grogan room kitchen. Both basketball teams. both cross country teams, the women's track team, the volleyball team, & both golf teams all locker in Savage. Also, the baseball, softball, swim, and soccer teams lift and work out in Savage. The indoor facility is the only part of Savage the football team uses. Otherwise, most of the athletes are there already.
The Savage Arena entry looks like a big, ugly garage door on the side of a warehouse.

I remember when the old guy came to me to show me that he had come up the flying Rocky. I didn't know him at all. I told him I didn't like then. Still don't. He must have been "somebody" because some nitwit bought into it. Have you seen ugly the neckties are with them on it they are trying to sell at Rocky's Locker???? And don't use the old rocket on top of the circle logo that's shown. looks like a 3rd grader drew it....

THe press release says: "The addition also creates the potential for a future training table that would address the nutritional needs of UT's almost 400 student-athletes."
These are renderings and will probably look much better in person when finished.

I've seen the prints and they are expanding the kitchen and doubling the size of the dining room. You can take whatever meaning from there..... 07-coffee3
Seems they are intent on repeating the errors on the west side concessions. This is an Engineering school, right? Has a Math Dept. I bet. Please ask the architects to read a book on queueing theory so your fans can spend some time watching the game.

New stadium facade: I think I like the old one better. Should I feel badly? I have to believe it's not really as open as shown in the rendering because we know without a full enclosure there are going to be a lot of drunken (and not so drunken) students and non-students running their own night games in the GB, right? Yes I suppose that fence to keep people from rolling down the hill into the street is a good use of a few glad-handed dollars to whomever contractor buddy will build it but has there been a lot of people falling into the road?

Savage: guess I'm not visualizing the need. Aren't there already two entrances on the East side off that Douglass Rd parking lot, the upper one? They both look fine.

Rocky Logo: I think it's cute. Meant for the kids, there's no comparison I see with the *****. Not for official things but good for t-shirts and Chucky Cheese parties or really drunk adults.

The new entrance on the south-southeast side will be to basically the basketball coaches offices. No other real reason for except you can to the arena or upstairs, but it takes going thru a few doors inside. It is suppose to match the one to the Grogan Room entrance.
Again, the Savage work is not about adding a new entrance. It is about expanding and consolidating offices for the BB programs which frees up more office space. They took the opportunity to add a new entrance directly to the BB office suite.

Expanding the Grogan room I'm sure is meant to help in fundraising.

Thanks. I was just looking at the street view on Google map trying to figure this one out. Now I see where it's going.

Well, it's money donated specifically for that purpose isn't it? Can't tell someone what to do with their money but if it were an AD decision using general athletic funds/donations, I'd be royally po-ed. That and I'm over the road tired at these façade and stone homages to one architectural feature of the campus. Hell, even the most beautiful campuses on Earth find a way to move on already in a way that still integrates and adds.

If coaches really need a nicer entrance, I'll buy them an outdoor planter.

For those who haven't see the BB coaches' offices on the third floor of Savage, they have to be by far the nicest in the MAC, especially with the huge windows that overlook the arena. Just sayin'.
Maybe the reason to move them down is to be more accessible for recruiting visits

As for the Glass Bowl, I don't think any of us are going to be happy until a massive renovation is done to finish the stadium. However this AD is not going to do it without a massive increase in support

The positive here is they are cleaning up a horrible space and trying to brighten it up. It will be an improvement. Just not the improvement we want

Someone on this board needs to win a Powerball or something

The easiest way to put more butts in the east bleachers is don't play in November on a Tuesday or Wednesday

Rockets are 11-8 in November over the past 5 seasons. Winning in November would help too.

Agreed !! - A modest upgrade to be sure. I can't help but think this was just a minimal redo of the east side to pacify the fans, and a more extensive renovation will be planned in the next 5-10 years
