I thought there was a thread on this but couldn't find it, so if there is, feel free to merge this. I was going to reply to relevant threads with the free tid bits from tonight but decided to just put it all in one thread instead. I'm sure I forgot a few things so got others that were there, please add on.

COA
- Wood said as of right now, ODU will be paying the full COA which is $2,975. This will go to the football team, mbb, wbb, and then every other women's sport due to Title IX. He said there wouldn't be money left for the other 7 men's sports and that it would create an inequity, so for now, they're out of luck. Seems like this could be a mess with litigation if this happens mostly everywhere, which I'm sure it is.

Stadium
- Wood seemed to imply they were caught off guard with Ballard going public with the proposal. He said Broderick was in Richmond lobbying for funds to build a new $75 mil STEM building and people were making remarks about why they needed the money if they had the money to build the stadium.
- He also seemed pretty positive the stadium will be at the current site and that it will be no more than 25k seats to start.
- Final word won't be for another few months.
- Someone asked about stadium size and the AAC and Wood said conferences were more concerned about having a full stadium (ie sellouts) than capacity. He doesn't see it as an issue holding us back.

Basketball
- Practice facility is on schedule to open next January 2017.
- Travis Smith from Norcom got all his paperwork completed today so he's officially a Monarch.

Volleyball
- Wood said once bb gets moved into their new digs, women's volleyball will be added.
I love Ballard's enthusiasm, but I wished he had consulted with ODU in private.
I guess they plan to never grow as a program. Sad.

I was there as well and Selig clearly said "expandable" to 30k-35k.
Thoughts to add to ODUPKT07's Caravan post....

Selig mentioned that we need to forget about the stadium being a waterfront one. He said the timeline doesn't work since the new dorms would have to be built, then Powhatan Apartments would have to come down before a stadium there could be even started. The land issue would be costly...filling in the land, pilings etc. The other thing is that some of us imaging boat-gaiting is not feasible. He grew up near the river and said you can wade knee high really far out before you hit the channel. The cost would be prohibitive to dredge it plus the problem with getting environmental/wetlands permits would probably be near impossible.

Wilder agreed with Selig. He'd rather have a sold out, loud 25K stadium than a 35-40K stadium with 25K in it. Selig did say conferences care more about a near 100% full stadium than a huge stadium at 50-60% capacity.

Wilder-
TH spoke to all the players en mass while he was here (going back to Minn. Sunday) about how to conduct themselves and represent ODU in public....including social media!
He said Washington is healing well and will be 100% to start season but was glowing about SB. He said how could anyone come in and do well immediately when following TH!
Said running backs great- RL all healthy, two others great...sorry didn't get names...Gevonte and someone else.
OL young but promising.
A good freshman punter from FL looks good and should fix that problem,
All in all special teams should be good. Introduced the new special teams coach with glowing reviews.

KB-
Usual ball of energy. Said she was proud of how team came together after injuries (especially to point guard) and the altercation suspensions. She thanked Wilder for the emotional support he gave her.
Good recruiting class coming including the daughter of an NBA player that I didn't catch the name. She's 6'4" and 220 (I think she said) with only 14% body fat with great skills.
Selig mentioned in his KB intro that the WBB team will have a 1000(%?) APR and that when KB took over they were teetering on academic sanctions.
My impression is the second half and academics turnaround buys her another couple of years.
She said she took some of JJ tactics to get Trey good shots and used them on her team to great results. She thought Trey's abilities were all Trey but after the experiments she realized JJ had a little bit to do with Trey's unbelievable success!

JJ-
Said how proud he was of this team. It was not the best team he has ever coached but it is one of the most coachable and the one that made the most improvement over the year.
Told the story of how absolutely down the team was in the locker room after that late shot loss to UAB at the TED (at least I think that was the game he was referring to!). He was reaching deep down to figure out what to say to them when Trey walks in late after talking post-game. Trey gets in front of the guys and says"No feeling sorry for ourselves. We will get back up and go to work."!! The other guys, although they lost a few more games, were never that down again.
Porter, Colbert, and BJ ready to go.
Randy Haynes will be good and he will make an impact.
Kah will be on the court a lot.
He's intrigued by the Norcom kid who's name just escaped me.
His eyes sort of lit up talking about Xavier Green. Said he is very skilled at every aspect of the game and may end up being a good point guard.
We switched location of the Richmond game. We will return there next season to at least somewhat alleviate the unbalanced "rival" home and away situation we had last year.
We will go to Richmond and Rhode Island. VCU, W&M, Ga. St. will be at the TED. Still finalizing another home game...the opener I think he said.
He thinks the OOC schedule is there to have a good RPI and SOS with the teams at the Battle for Atlantis.
He said to me after speeches that the Charleston Tourney paperwork has yet to be signed but it's pretty much a done deal since they asked us to come!! I told him to expect an outrageous amount of ODU fans at that tourney. Told him I thought 600-800.

He mentioned that he was glad to see the 4-5 people that always came to the Coach's Show. A friend of ours who was sitting with us is one of them. He went over to speak to JJ afterwards and JJ told him that they were thinking of not having the show next year due to lack of attendance and call-ins. I told my friend that I thought Dave and Busters was a horrible place to have it. Unless you live in the Lynnhaven Mall area it's a bear to get there with the traffic from just about anywhere else, Have it in a more central location or just have it in the studio and have call-ins and maybe expand where questions come from like Facebook, email or twitter to Ted. I hate to see us not have a BB coach's show. Please give me your ideas and I will pass them on at the Big Blue BBQ next Wednesday or maybe we can send them to Ted or Wood directly.

Lordy... I'm a bit wordy. I'm sort of stream of consciousness kinda girl! If I got something wrong or misremembered something please correct me or add anything I missed.

Thanks Homselr', great information. We all appreciate your attendance and the fact that you take the time to share your personal interactions from the evening with the coaches. Thanks
Hey MH, thanks for the great summary. I would have been there, but I was with my wife while she was having an MRI done. I hope they don't stop the CC. I have really enjoyed them and plan to be at the Norfolk meeting on the 26th.

Did anyone ask about the NCAA decision on the joint football camps?

Not every game is going to sellout a 25k seat stadium either. So you want those extra 5k or 10k seats for those games like UVA, UNC and maybe Alabama which are guaranteed to sellout 30-35k seats thus making up for those empty seats when a bad team like Charlotte or North Texas come to town 05-stirthepot

They didn't give any numbers for the stadium at all. Basically said information and a decision would be coming out this summer/fall.

Exactly. If North Texas comes to town, who cares if the stadium is 50%-60% capacity? The game isn't even going to be on TV. When the A-rated games are played: UNC, UVA, VT and if we are ever in the AAC ECU, Navy, and whoever is in the top 25 in a given season... we'll need the big stadium. Those are also the games that will draw TV ratings and be on real networks.
Thanks for the reports guys/gals......exciting times.

Someone did ask about it but not much was said. Wilder quipped after the question was asked "Oh, you're talking about the rule the SEC just passed, or is it the Nick Saban rule?". He said they did file an appeal because it's not fair to the kids that have already signed up to come to those camps and put money down to now be told there not happening. He also brought up that he understands what the NCAA (SEC) was trying to accomplish but that this isn't the right way. He said there are a lot of 3rd party people involved in putting these camps on (I believe he referred to them as "runners") and there are instances where these 3rd parties can get to certain kids and rules are broken for whatever the reasons may be (acting on behalf of others schools or what not). He said he hopes the appeal goes through as he thinks they're great events to get kids on campus that may not otherwise come in and think about ODU.

He said there wouldn't be money left for the other 7 men's sports and that it would create an inequity, so for now, they're out of luck. Volleyball
- Wood said once bb gets moved into their new digs, women's volleyball will be added.

Really would like to see the volleyball team get up and running, would they play their matches at the TED?

In prior comments, it was indicated that they would turn what is now the basketball practice gym into both a voleyball practice and game facility.
Thanks for the updates. I plan to go to the one in Norfolk. MH, I agree with the location of the Coach's Show being awful. I'm not fighting traffic to try to get to Dave & Busters. Besides, it's too loud to hear (even on the radio). Why not do it at the Monarch Sports Grille or the Starving Artists Cafe (like the women's show), where it is relatively small and not too noisy? I really enjoyed the ones with Blaine at Univ. Pizza and YNot.

For the purpose of having sellouts but also doing the practical thing in terms of needing a bigger stadium for our games with VA Tech, UVA, UNC etc. Why not build it with the lower bowl seating 25,000 and announce that is the new stadium capacity? However, we also build the upper deck(s) with 5,000 (or 10,000) seats, whichever the studies show we might need and simply NOT count those seats for capacity. Put a tarp/cover over those seats that says "Monarch Football - CUSA" (a lot of older stadiums do this to cover their excess seats like EMU last year). Then we continue our sellouts but when Tech & the other big names come, we uncover the upper deck, sell 5,000 more seats, make the $$$$ and announce a sell out at 125% of capacity. Problem solved.

I think this is a great idea if the financial side works (which I think it easily could). You get the cheaper pricing overall by doing it all upfront (labor is more is efficient and you're buying more materials in bulk), yet, the stadium doesn't look horrible with all the empty seats. Cover them like you said for all that are needed and don't even sell those tickets. My guess is if you don't offer them for sell, they are not counted toward capacity for that game and they could still be sell outs. When the big boys come to town, open those seats up and have a nice chunk of extra income for those games. I'm on board.
