What does that mean?
I read where Pastner has to "negotiate a buyout" with Memphis.
Shouldn't be much of a negotiation.
we couldn't get that lucky, could we?

I was expecting you to plead .... PLEASE dont anyone try to stop this from happening.
Normally it'd be such a bad thing- ACC poaching an AAC coach. But this? A Gift that keeps on giving.
Thank you, Ga Tech. You don't realize how much we appreciate it. 03-lmfao
what is wild from Goodman:
If Pastner does get Ga. Tech, it will be interesting to see names that pop up for Memphis: Gregg Marshall, Penny Hardaway, Jeff Capel, etc

And for those asking, Gregg Marshall has not turned down better jobs than Memphis.

that would be funny as heck
The Memphis job won't exactly be confused with Duke anytime soon. Memphis has had only about 7-8 really good seasons in the last 20 years and 4 as a top ten type team. That said it's top 25 caliber, so it'll be about as good as Marshall may have been able to see.

#19 alltime according to ESPN a few years ago.
Because they're the final authority on everything. Memphis was such a good gig they couldn't do anything more than take a flyer on the unproven Pastner after they tried to do all they could to find a replacement for Cal. Hey, UH went through it, no one would come here a mere 2 years after Phi Slama Jama to replace Lewis and all we could get is some low level coach named Pat Foster and then a worse version than Pastner named Alvin Brooks.

This is wrong. OUr AD only called 3 people. RC Johnson was an idiot of an AD. He called Leonard Hamilton who said no. Scott Drew who said yes until Geoff Calkins wrote an article saying he was a scumbag and then said no. Then called Pastner.

Its a misnomer that no one wanted our job after Cal left.

We will end up with a much better(perceived better at this moment) coach then Josh. Just a matter if that coach can pull themselves out of the hole that Josh created.
How do you know he only called 3 people?

Marshall already is making more than $3.3 Million at Wichita State (Pastner is making $2.65 Million)....it would be a hoot if Memphis gives him a $4 Million plus deal with another costly buyout.
How can you get rid of Pastner, but we are stuck with Tubberville.
This needs to happen, having said that as hard as he works he will probably do well there.
Every day for months now I've logged on the Memphis board hoping to see a "He's gone" thread. I thought I'd still be doing it a year from now.

Hopefully this is true.

Yeah, he'll wipe the floor with Krzyzewski, Boeheim, Pitino, and Williams.
